Half the article doesn't apply to the Steelers. So if this needs moved or removed, I get it.

But half talks specifically about the Bears game and how Chicago used packages that looked like run, to get the Steelers in base and then did funny things with Cohen out of them. Interesting take on the emerging trend across the league of teams actually finding a successful and innovative role for what used to be called "scat backs".

Seems that Butler and company better get back to the drawing board on this one. Either stay in your gaps better, or put more flexible athletes on the field.

Wonder if Steelers just end up in some version of their nickel or "big nickel" more often?

Apparently, Chickillo and Dupree weren't able to keep outside contain, or were being escorted upfield to make even bigger holes. I would definitely expect some of the same run scheme from the Ravens this week. I don't know if Harrison or Watt would have done any better against it.
I would like to see Bell used more in this same way. No he doesn't have the "jets", but he does have the open field ability to make guys miss. Don't need homerun plays, just move the chains plays.
This is also where losing Davis is going to hurt.

Gerry Dulac says in his chat today the stretch play has been a problem for years as an issue when the defense has a tendency to over pursue

Last week the Bear's running backs would run toward the right side of the line, plan their foot and cut back to the left against the pursuing defensive line of the Steelers. It seems like the Steelers lose one game every season because of this. Why do they have such difficulty against
Gerry Dulac: That's what they call a "stretch play," and yes they have had difficulty against it for years. The idea is to take advantage of an aggressive that tends to over-pursue and get them out of their gaps.

My take on the Bear's game .... we suck ! Completely outplayed and outcoached. Steeler's aren't a good team so far in week 3.

Any article about that game which doesn't contain the words "sucks" and "nuts," preferably in that order, is only capturing half the story.
