For all of our (mostly merited) criticism, others saw it differently and ESPN now has us #1.

Who can explain any of this? :chuckle:

It makes no sense to me how all these rankings are made in the first place.

It's ridiculous. Another power ranking puts them at 5th. I put no stock in it......W/L is all I care about.

BCS has us at #3.

As long as we get in the top 4.........

NFL Power rankings are only slightly less annoying than Preseason college rankings.

Uh oh...

Be wary of Appalachian State.

That pass catching RB, Hunt on KC is pretty good and he is a 3rd round rookie. I bet he isn't even thinking about $17million.

Personally, I'd put Alabama above them.

Notice the espn power rankings are "the overreaction" edition...no way we should be #1...that should be kc

Explanations such as this one from SI/MMQB are laughable in explaining how scientific it all is

Rather than relying on one mind to determine the 1 to 32 ranking, every week we will conduct a staff vote among all MMQB/Sports Illustrated NFL staffers for the most definitive ranking of the NFL teams (aside from maybe win-loss records), going by the classic Peter King “if they met on a neutral field in Des Moines...” scale.

Steelers dropped from 3 to 4 in MMQB power rankings after week one:willy:

Green Bay and Kansas City ranked #1 and #2 this week - obvious Midwest bias

If we were talking about level of play from a WR or play from a defensive rookie in week 1, I'd agree on no. 1, but as a team, no. Overall it was a very sloppy day and they misfired in a lot of areas against a crap team

As soon as NE wins a game they'll be back on top of the charts. Aren't power rankings like a middle school student council election? It's just a popularity contest right?

The only time I want the Steelers ranked #1 is on February 5th, 2018.
