Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but why is there better coverage of this scenario in a west coast paper then there is on ANY Pittsburgh paper or Steelers site? SAD.

He's an actual MD (knee surgeon) and former Chargers trainer, who now writes for the Union-Tribune.

Not a blogger.
Not a reporter.
A doctor with a pen.

Nice!!!

Joking aside, maybe it's just because I'm a Steelers fan (and they're placating me), but a lot of the Chargers fans whom I know have become Steelers fans.

Mark Kaboly, a Steelers beat reporter, saw Tuitt post game without a sling and carrying a duffle bag with his injured arm.

Why didn't a rookie carry his bags? :chuckle:

Really though, why wasn't someone carrying his bag???

Encouraging sign.

Tuitt had Ice on his shoulder Yesterday, so it may be a proximal (not distal) tear and he'll be out for 2-3 weeks.

Joe Greene played the last 5 years of his career with one arm.

Suit up next week Mary! ;)

He still had great moments but Mean Joe was never the same player after the arm injury in 1975 - of course sports medicine was relatively primitive back in the day

If it is, I will laugh so hard that fans get all frazzled over a tweet or 2 from Shefter, Steelersdepot, Bleacherreport, etc and not an actual true report.

As posted in another thread, Rapoport reported that Tuitt is week-to-week. He will not miss the season.

you guys are killing me by getting my hopes up . I have no problem keeping Tuitt out even a couple extra games if need be to really let the injury heal IF it isnt a season ending injury. Alualu, Hargrave, and Walton can certainly hold down the fort for a few if need be.

UPDATE: http://www.steelers.com/news/article-4/Heyward-on-Tuitt-Its-not-season-ending-/382cbdab-296b-4e4d-9cd0-35f87d92d5c0

Heyward: "It's not season ending"

"I am just glad it didn’t wind up being season-ending. We are definitely breathing a sigh of relief knowing that he will be able to play down the road. I know some people already reported he was going to miss the rest of the season. I texted him just to make sure nothing was finalized. To hear that already, that is something that can be detrimental to you because your psyche is a little bit messed up. We are very happy it wasn’t season-ending and we will get more information soon.”

Article has Heyward's thoughts on the play of Alualu and Walton in Tuitt's absence. Can we form a prayer circle and have a collective sigh of relief?

I just remembered that the San Diego football beat writers don't have a team to write about any more. So, to fill the void, it appears that they're focusing on "fan favorites" (e.g. the Steelers).

I agree. Let Tuitt rest, and have his arm as close to 100% as possible before he returns. Alualu is a great stop-gap.

Indeed (Whew!!!)

Great news. Tuitt will still miss time which still sucks, he was dominant in the limited time he had, but at least it's not season ending. I just hope that this year, the Big 3 (Starting d-linemen) get significant time playing together

Don't do it, Tomlin.

Rest him. I'd rather lose this game (non-division, non-conference) and have him available for the Ravens. Heck, I might even rest him through that game, as well.

"We'll leave the light on," coach Mike Tomlin said about Tuitt's availability.

From the linked article

This is a pain and function issue. It is not even impossible he returns to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings (http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/topic/sports/football/minnesota-vikings-ORSPT000048-topic.html) if his swelling subsides.

If the swelling subsides, Tuitt may be having the NFL breakfast of champions on Sunday - Toradol!

FWIW I would rest him for at least one game

I want him as healthy as possible for week 4.

I'd have no problem with Tomlin sitting him for the Vikings and Bears games.

Ad lib with Alualu and Walton, move Watt to the other side at times, and give Harrison more snaps.

Non-divisional, non-conference games.Only problem with that is if it comes down to tie breakers and that could be a huge difference

Let me clarify.

No loss is good. But, if one "had" to lose a game or two, losing to the NFC has the least influence on playoff seeding.

Division games are more important than AFC games.
AFC games are more important than NFC games.

Teegre is right. When it comes down to tiebreakers, you want your losses to be out of conference. That's why these games are less important. You don't want to lose any games, but if you do lose, non conference games are the ones to drop. Division games are the worst losses.
