Thought we might try to pick up an experienced KR.
Do we even have one?

How important are they with most teams kicking the ball out of the end zone?

How important are they with most teams kicking the ball out of the end zone? Because of that not to much in my opinion and if you do have to run it out I would just want a guy that is not prone to fumbling. Oh and we just traded our KR away to the Browns.

it appears that Demarcus Ayers cut his nose off to spite his face ...

several days ago it was reported by Jacob Klinger of Penn live that Ayers would NOT sign with steelers PS if cut , he cleared waivers ( from what I have seen ) and to this point no team that I have seen has signed him to their PS

I said that day and still say be careful of what bridges you burn in the NFL as there just isnt that many opportunities

He'll land somewhere after a team suffers a wr injury. I don't blame him after getting a taste of the NFL last season not to want to be on a teams practice squad. Specially knowing he probably won't see the field this year with us.

He is a 5'9" WR that ran a 4.72 at the combine and a 4.66 at his pro day, but has short area quickness. If he isn't a special teamer, he will have to look to the Arena League or the CFL if he doesn't want to be on a practice squad.

People bitch about drafting a long snapper in the 6th that didn't make the team, yet they also hope this guy makes the team even though he was a UDFA the Steelers reached for in the 7th. :noidea:

Meh

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AyerDe00.htm That does not account for like I said when he had the Db burnt long and got the inference call I mentioned. Again he look pretty fast to me. Anyhow I really don't care we cut him and he didn't make the practice squad. He will catch on elsewhere like I said when a wr goes down on another team during the season.

why not , if you are looking for a move TE ( a big WR ) Hodges looks the part

why not , if you are looking for a move TE ( a big WR ) Hodges looks the part I'm sure they would but after signing McDonald I very much doubt they will.

He was really good at VT, I also remember quite a few members here wanting us to draft him.

pretty raw at the nuances of the TE pos , he was/is a developmental type to me a year on a teams PS would do him a lot of good IMO but you just can not teach those measurable's he is a walking talking mismatch

How important are they with most teams kicking the ball out of the end zone?

After watching film of our preseason games, and focusing on our kick-off returners, I'm betting that some of our opponents will be coached to pooch kick the ball just short of the goal line as opposed to kicking it through the endzone.

Why give it to us at the 25 when the returner most likely won't make it past the 20.

Just want to thank all the awesome members here for stepping up and making posts about the PS and trades. So much going on this weekend team wise....we made a quick trip back home to visit my mom and it's really hard to make posts and moderate from my phone. But I was following all of it thanks to you guys!

I have been expecting the Ravens to cherry pick our WRs that get cut. Another reason I like that we traded Coates rather than just cut. Ayers to the Pats makes sense also. Only wish we had gotten SOME return on him.(Pun Intended)
