Based on recent history, my guess is he plays very little if at all. I'm just glad it appears they didn't burn a draft pick this time

Good? Bad? I'm not familiar with Phillips. Not like he'll actually play though.

Expect a lot of similar trades like this around the league since the roster cut down date is after the 4th preseason.

Just view it as a guy they claimed off waivers after getting the roster cut down to 75. No way he makes the team, could make the PS though.

Meh and could probably cover AB right now just as good as Cockroll and he is probably still on the plane flying to the Burgh.

My 14 year old son did his own research on Phillips and came away a bit more impressed than what I read on here. He reports Phillips is a safety prospect that hits big and has ballhawk skills. The Redskins had injury problems with him so he was expendable to them. I'm willing to give him the "Mike Hilton/Coty Sensabaugh" room to make his own case here. I hope he becomes an upgrade to our safety corps.

Could be. I haven't look into him myself. I'll do that tonight or this weekend. Just thought maybe he was getting run off a tiny bit soon if there's anything to my son's opinion. :noidea:

I agree! Phillips has played in the NFL - albeit with some rough patches from what I have read.

And all that cost the Steelers was a center they were going to cut in a few weeks? That must've been a pretty easy decision.
