Despite the fact that it's only preseason, when teams move there's usually a certain buzz around a team's first game in a new stadium. The Los Angeles Chargers' move, however, has been controversial from the jump. For their preseason opener on Sunday night, 21,054 fans went to the StubHub Center (which has a capacity of 27,000) to see the Chargers get routed by the Seahawks. For comparison, the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS had 25,667 in attendance the previous night

First preseason game, for lots of places, last big week of family vacation before HS Fall Ball and Colleges return. There's a ton of reasons why that attendance may be down.

The comparison depends on when the Galaxy's first game was or when the 1960s Chargers game was. There's a lot of variables that goes in to an attendance number. The Galaxy and Chargers at that time are probably more affordable and they may have had more comps.

lets face it LA is not a football town , why the league allowed 2 teams to relocate there is beyond me ...

they could not even hold the Rams originally , the Raiders bounced back n forth and had mixed results during a pretty successful period as a franchise and couldn't make it work in LA ...\

now again 2 teams vying for 1 audience that isn't all that interested to begin with for me it has BAD IDEA written all over it

It was a preseason game with many of their regulars probably not playing. Let's see what it looks like their first regular season game.

I know, preseason and all, but the Rams haven't exactly been belting it out of the park in terms of attendance either.

Los Angeles is a fickle town with lots of entertainment value everywhere you go. You're either in or you're out. Fans are not going to sit and constantly waste money on tickets to see bumbling humdrum mediocrity. They want superstars. They want the best.

Maybe all those Hollywood celebrities will buy season tickets and create enough excitement to help attendance or Jimmy Fallon will crucify them on late night tv.
