Earlier in the offseason, NFL teams voted to do away with one of the preseason cut down dates and because of that, organizations will now need to cut from 90 players down to 53 after the final preseason games are played. Previously, teams cut from 90 players down to 75 players after the fourth week of the preseason, which was essentially after the third exhibition game for all but two teams.

I agree with Colbert on this , thought it was a bad idea from the start but who am I .

you want to give teams as much time to make decisions as possible but lets face it if you have not done enough to make the old 75 with a team another 10 days or so probably wont get you to the 53 so why not give them a fresh start with a new team new scheme and see if they fair any better , sometimes it has little to do with talent and everything to do with scheme as to why a guy makes the team vs doesn't make the team .....
