The Steelers received some good news about rookie running back James Conner of Pitt, who injured his left shoulder on Sunday and had his arm in a sling the past two days.

The injury is considered minor and Conner could return to practice later this week.

Meantime, cornerback Senquez Golson, a No. 2 draft choice in 2015 who has missed each of the past two seasons with injuries, will be out longer after injuring his hamstring on Sunday. Conner and Golson were each sent to Pittsburgh on Monday to be evaluated, coach Mike Tomlin said.

The players had a mandated day off and did not practice Tuesday

Good to hear about James. As for Golson, I think he needs to just make it to a preseason game where he can get back to actual football and hitting players. He is probably playing so ginger because of the past injuries and worrying about the next one. If he can make it that far he might have a chance.

Why don't they cut Golson? I think it's pretty clear the guy doesn't want to play in the NFL.

I am glad that our injuries like JuJu and Conner are considered minor.

It could be a total disaster like the Ravens right now !!!!

State Farm needs an agent here on the western slope.

Hamstring injuries vary. High at your butt are probably most common. These CAN be severe enough when the tendon actually pulls away from the bone. If he has a lower grade version it can be as simple as stretching better before activities, or as severe as no weight bearing for a while. I'm not counting Golson out until he gets his walking papers, but I have to wonder how soon that's going to be. If he's out 2 weeks or more, go ahead and make room for somebody that can get on the field.

I read all the hype surrounding Conner. I know he's THE feel good story of the draft. I need to see him in full pads at full speed before I legitimately get pumped about this kid. Show me the football.

Steelers (http://www.espn.com/nfl/team/_/name/pit) running back James Conner (http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3045147/james-conner) has a sprained right AC joint and won't miss significant time.Conner underwent medical testing after suffering an injury during Sunday's practice, during which he acquitted himself well with physical play.

"It appears to be minor - days," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said.

I saw him play in college and he was a beast. TD machine. I'm hoping it translates to the NFL. If it does I think he could be a great compliment to Bell.

Watching him run all over my Clemson Tigers(eventual national champions btw) when he started to show his old self in the 2nd half of the college season wasn't fun.
