At least, a little less drama for the steelers ....

I'm interested to see how much money he is going to get. All we know at this point and time is that the contract is for four years.

The Steelers didn't disclose financial terms, but a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that the deal is worth $24 million. NFL Network first reported those terms.

very good deal...The average for a LT is 7.5 millions....

If correct that is a sweet deal for the Steelers - top 10 LT contracts average over $10 million per year

Well, glad to see logic prevailed. All this talk of some $50M blockbuster deal at $10M per year was nonsense; it was just not gonna happen under the current free agency rules. Glad to see him getting paid decently and without us making a huge bonehead move either. Everyone walks away better off from this.

For the record, I think I had predicted 5 years, $30 million, maybe $35 million given his contract situation, so it seems like that's about where it ended up after all.

If we were hardasses about it, we could've had him for 3 years, $16 million and $0 guaranteed with ERFA, RFA and franchise tag; that is the leverage we had. This is also a good deal for the player. Actually more than we had to pay, although going to that extreme probably would not have made us super popular among the players.

Solid value and they get this deal done quickly so Villanueva doesn't hold out at camp

This is great news. Signing a quality guy that deserves it while giving him financial security, and also helping the team have a good left tackle at a reasonable price is great for both parties.

It's a win-win.

Unless the terms of this deal are freakish in the % guaranteed cash, this is a comically low contract for a starting LT of AV's caliber. Great deal for the Steelers.

Glad he's signed.

I still want to see him at the goal line w/a Tackle eligible TD pass reception. Dammit Haley make it happen!

Win-win contract and shows the Steelers will pay for talent, but not over pay.

AV discusses his contract negotiations - not the perspective you usually hear from a player, but of course not every player was an Army Ranger

“In my football career, I’ve been more focused on trying to make the team. I’ve been more focused on becoming a starter. I’ve been more focused on trying to not embarrass myself on national television,” Villanueva said. “My agent kind of focused on the question of what is fair. So, it was a very tough assignment for him.”...

Villanueva was asked whether he compared his new deal to what other starting left tackles make, and, in an impassioned response, he explained why he did not.

“I played in a park in Belgium. That’s where I played football in high school for a year. I really didn’t have a lot of experience. I was a walk-on at West Point. I was last string D-end when I was at Army. Then I played wide receiver and offensive line. Not really had a career that you could say was groomed to be a first-round pick and get a big contract,” he said.

“Then I went to the Army and obviously that was my first and foremost priority in life. I was deployed three times. I’ve got so many things, so many other situations in my life where it could’ve been the opposite. It could have been like, ‘Man, would you rather be walking on both your legs?’ or, ‘Would you rather still have all your limbs and what not?’ These scenarios of whether you’re getting $24 million or someone else is getting $46 [million], to me, that’s irrelevant.

“I just want the fairness thing out of it. I understand people are going to have opinions about the contract. I can’t really convince everybody. I can’t even make those decisions myself. It’s got to be my agent, so I’m very happy to be here with the Steelers and I’m really looking forward to the start of the season.”

How can you not love this guy.

I hope Le'veon Bell reads this and sits down to reflect on life a bit.

Listening to a true hero show perspective should inspire anyone that listens and contemplates true life assessment.

If Bell can't understand that being revered and appreciated in a great football city and playing for championships is better than getting a few more dollars playing for a dog team, he is missing the easy choice sitting right in front of him.

There is much to be learned by many from Villanueva if they are smart enough to listen.

What an amazing man and perspective.

... and what do you want to bet he gets paid the full amount of his deal, while Bell doesn't reach the end of whatever he signs.

Oh well, he's always got his rap career to fall back on.

Did you see what Jurell Casey re-signed for? These next few contract extensions could get really interesting.
