Huh,
From what I remember over the years, I thought a lot of that had to do with Batch. Probably a little of both. Regardless, we know Ben was immature when he first came into the league. We also know that he grew up and became a great franchise QB. Personally, I'd like to hear Porter's thoughts on Ben as a leader now that Ben is at the end of his career. I think that would be really interesting.

Thanks for the link to the wayback machine on Ben's issues with teammates :drink:

Interesting that the times do not match up for when Porter called out Ben

The Arians book says the showdown was in 2005 while the 2010 ESPN article (written around the time of the Milledgeville mess for which players were the sources) said it was after the lousy start to the 2006 season

Given my views on Arians I will go with the ESPN timeline :chuckle:

Yeah, I was about to post that as well (the timeline). Also, since Arians had the happy hours from his trunk and the Kangrol hats may be too tight, and his age, he probably didn't get his facts straight. :chuckle:

You're correct as Batch had a sit-down w/Ben after XLIII.

Cut Bruce a break and he has cancer on the kidney. He tried when he was here. Anyhow prayers to him and his family.

P.S. I hate your avatar, it looks like poo on a rag.

Sorry to read of his health problems but that does not change the fact that Arians is a ceaseless self-promoter going back to his days of being a go to source for Ron Cook in the P-G (what has he accomplished compared to other NFL coaches to justify an autobiography?) who owes his success in Pittsburgh to a legendary defense and a QB who would no longer be playing if a change had not been made in how the Steelers offense operated.

P.S. I hate your avatar, it looks like poo on a rag. Because every now and then we need to realize it's just a game. Way more things in life matter more. That said we won a championship with Bruce as well and you should dig that!

Fake news?

Dookie Davenport, Arians, and Mike Logan pretty much gave the same account. I think Arians' timeframe may have been wrong but what do I know????

If the date was wrong that gives the opening to say it was not true without specifying how

FWIW P-G reporter Ray Fittapaldo also says Arians book has some false statements

I only read the Steelers chapter. It was entertaining in some parts though as I pointed out in a story there were a bunch of factual errors.

Imagine Arians not being completely honest

Scott: Shouldn't the book by Bruce Arrogance be called "The Quarterback Crippler" as opposed to the whisperer?

Ouch!

After watching Ariana on All or Nothing, his arrogance level went beyond what i ever thought it was and I actually thought a lot less of him as one of the "good guys". He was just an arrogant prick at times.

Roethlisberger said Friday that not only did Porter’s act before the team not help him “grow up” as Arians noted, but that it bothered him.

“If anything, it made me despise Joey.”

What did Porter say?

“You’ll have to ask Joey about that,” Roethlisberger said Friday. “Joey did say something to the team, but it wasn’t about autographs. It was because of other things, which were kind of silly now to look back on it.”

Does Roethlisberger still despise Porter, now the Steelers’ outside linebackers coach?

“Ah, not as much,” Roethlisberger answered, then followed with a smile.

I'll never forgive Arians for spilling the beans (to his buddy Ed Bouchette) about Darrelle Revis.

No one knew about that kid... until Bouchette cited a "source" saying that Tomlin was going to pick him at 15.

Yep...and the Jets leap frogged them to grab him.

You know what really irritates me? When he and his wife were interviewed regarding the split with the Steelers, Tomlin told Arians that he was going to 'get his bread.' When the higher ups decided they didn't want to give him a new contract (which benefitted us), he was let go and his wife blames Tomlin. How does that make any sense? Tomlin was trying to keep him, but Art didn't want him. Why blame Tomlin?
