The NFL is $trict about what can be adverti$ed during games, but the li$t of prohibited commercial$ no longer feature$ hard liquor, according to the Wall $treet Journal (https://www.wsj.com/articles/nfl-adds-liquor-to-menu-of-advertisers-1496441710).
A memo di$tributed by the NFL $ay$ that the league will allow no more than four 30-$econd hard liquor $pot$ per game with a limit of two $uch $pot$ in any quarter or during halftime. This i$ a revi$ed policy that lift$ a long$tanding ban of such adverti$ing.
There’$ a catch. Any ad for hard liquor mu$t carry a “prominent $ocial re$pon$ibility me$$age” and cannot be football themed.......

Such honorable intentions.
I have SERIOUSLY always wondered if when you call the "Gambling problems hotline", they take your information and pass it along to the casinos so that they can target you for casino specials...

...making the league's stance on marijuana use that much more hypocritical...
If there was enough $ in it the NFL would name one of the teams The Spleefs or Rolling Joints.

I live in Colorado, and trust me, there's PLENTY of money in it:

As long as they don't take my Captain Morgan Parrot Bay Coconut Rum away from me, I don't care what they do.

I don't really notice alot of hard liquor commercials or do I just look away or take a leak while they are shown during other sports or shows?
I don't pay attention to commercials until it's the Super Bowl. I'm usually stressed or typing here in the gameday thread to even care about commercials

The Wall Street Journal notes the hypocrisy
NFL Adds Liquor to Menu of Advertisers
There are still several categories of advertising the NFL wants to continue to keep clear of football.
Most prominent on its list of “prohibited advertising categories” are condoms and other forms of birth control. While those spots aren’t allowed, the league has no problems with commercials for performance enhancing erectile dysfunction drugs.
Because ads for condoms are offensive but the Viagra ads with the women laying across the bed while talking about their sexual partners are wholesome :noidea:
Gambling also is still a red flag, including ads for any hotel that features gambling even if it isn’t referenced in the commercial. That also includes tourism ads for places that allow gambling such as Las Vegas.
But the DraftKings (in which Jerry Jones and Bob Kraft hold ownership interests) and FanDuel ads are fine since we all know that does not promote gambling :coffee:

More available commercials to put into the 5 minutes of commercials they show every time the clock stops
It should raise rates too. I can't wait for the Jose Cuervo Super Bowl Halftime Show.
