So I was bored today and decided to do my yearly "Where does AB fit in chasing Jerry Rice" check. The stats were pretty eye opening. I decided to include a few other WRs as well.

Average Receptions per Game

Rece

1Antonio Brown201020166.3
2Larry Fitzgerald200420165.6
3Marvin Harrison*199620085.8
4Randy Moss199820124.5
5Terrell Owens199620104.9
6Jerry Rice*198520045.1

Average YDS per Game

Rece

1Antonio Brown2010201682.9
2Marvin Harrison*1996200876.7
3Jerry Rice*1985200475.6
4Terrell Owens1996201072.8
5Larry Fitzgerald2004201671.2
6Randy Moss1998201270.1

He is also tied with Fitzgerald with .5 TDs per game, 2/10ths of a point under the other four at .7 TDs per game. He is also third for Receptions per game in playoff appearances, and second in Yds per game in playoff appearances. The place that AB falls short is in TDs. However, looking at the makeup of the Steelers, that is not surprising.

What does all this mean? Who knows, except that AB is on track to be one of the best, if not the best WR in the history of the NFL. The only thing stopping him is longevity and a murky QB future.

No doubt, Brown is going to be a HOF if he continues like that, super bowl ring or not.

3 first team all-pro in the last 3 years and he would have deserved to be in 2013.

I expect, with the return of Bryant that its production could be similar of 2014 or 2015 in 2017.Brown had almost 1300 yards last year in 15 games, although he was often doubled and tripled in almost every games, because our receiver and TE was mediocre after him.

Agreed. Unless Ben spreads it out.

His stats are a distraction to the team, trade him

I think cutting Bell would remove another distraction. While they're at it they should buyout Ben and force an early retirement.

Jerry Rice was better despite the stats. Arguably the 49ers were much better than the current steelers and Montana was probably the best of all time, but Rice was integral in some of the SB wins. AB is doing more showboating.
