The Pittsburgh Steelers signed their first draft pick (http://www.steelersdepot.com/2017/05/steelers-sign-fifth-round-cb-brian-allen/) on Monday and it was former Utah cornerback Brian Allen, who was selected in the fifth-round. Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butlerrecently talked about Allen during an interview (http://www.steelers.com/videos/videos/Face-Time-with-Butler/a0462875-9263-43b1-9e5d-53622782ab05) with Missi Matthews of steelers.com.
“Big,” said Butler when asked what he likes about Allen. “He’s got a lot of length. He’s 6-3, about 215, 220, somewhere around there. Runs sub 4.5, can do all that stuff. He’s still got a lot to learn He’s a big guy that’s not afraid to hit, not afraid to be physical.”

If he can become what Davis is expected to be as a safety, this secondary will be elite very soon.

I think that despite what the team is saying, Allen is going to be second half of a safety tandem with Davis in 2 years. But, I always say that when they draft their every other year big, tall, fast, raw as hamburger CB.

Hopefully Mel Blount will spend some time with this kid. I'm dreaming now....

I don't think Allen is suited to be a safety, at least right now. I could see a move to safety next year, but this year he's strictly a corner.
