4.22 @ 6' & 190 pounds is impressive!

We all know John Ross ran a 4.22 and had he been wearing the right pair of cleats, would be chilling on his own island right now. But a small-school prospect ran a 4.22 at Tennessee’s Pro Day. And Mike Tomlin took notice.
Carson-Newman’s Kevin Snead ran a reported 4.22/4.26 hand times at the workout. He jumped 37.5 inches in the vert and 10’11” in the broad, all according to Yahoo’s Eric Edholm. Tomlin asked to see Snead get work in return drills after his other work.

Yea, I don't think that I'd waste a draft pick on him.

I hope the steelers will not take him with the 3rd round compensation pick like Dri Archer in 2014....

So Tyreek Hill without the domestic violence?

Seriously, if this kid can catch and actually run in something other than a straight line (Archer's biggest problem) -- you're looking at Hill's skill set in a slightly bigger player who apparently doesn't spend his down time punching women.

Archer was about 20 pounds lighter and fell down if someone farted, but do agree.

How exactly does he have Tyreek Hill's skill set? He has zero production in college as a football player playing at a college that no one has ever heard of. Hill had actual production in college. His one season at Oklahoma State he had over 1800 yards of offense and showed skill as a HB, WR and KR/PR.

If this kid's not even good enough to get playing time at Carson-Newman, why are we even wasting time on him?

Why? Because it's what we do in March and April leading up to the draft. We kick over EVERY stone.

Anything other than UDFA is a complete waste on someone who's shown zero football skills. He's fast and athletic. There are tons of guys like him who can't play in the NFL. If he had any football skills at all, why couldn't he get more playing time at this tiny, no name college?

Agree. Just answering your question of why bother. Sometimes kids don't want to leave home, have family on faculty, can't make the grade requirement, other reasons they go to smaller unknown schools. This specific guy was more of a track guy in college so maybe wasn't fully committed to football? IDK, but if a guy puts up speed numbers like that, why not take a closer look?

The main point of my post was the first part. He hasn't shown the same skill set as Tyreek Hill.

The "why bother" was more rhetorical. If they're going to spend time on him, they might as well just start going to college track meets all over the country.

True. And I would bet there is somebody monitoring all the speedy freaks out there, we just don't hear about it. Hill was and is a football player first, so agreed, not a worthy comparison. But that's why Tomlin asked to put Snead thru the regular football return drills I would imagine. To see if there is anything football noteworthy there.
