I call this great news and expected news but it may be time to start a serious search for his eventual replacement I think we know Landry Jones is not that guy ...

with that in mind I am a big fan of Mahomes and if he is there in round 2 when the Steelers select ( very doubtful but possible ) I say pull the trigger and grab him

This is no surprise to me. I never thought he'd retire anyway, he would have lost way too much money and I'm sure his wife wouldn't allow that to happen! I do agree that it is definitely past time to search for a replacement.

I just can't see the Steelers drafting a QB when there isn't anyone that will take Ben's place. They signed Jones for two years, Met is good through 2017. I think they will do like last year and bring in someone like Vaughan for camp duty and compete for the #3 position. Hopefully Ben's replacement is available in 2018-2019 draft. I think Ben will play past 2017.

I think Mahomes is going to be a very good QB in this league , maybe even a great QB ... best of the bunch IMO

Very well could be, but the Steelers won't draft a QB in R2 or beyond in 2017 imo.
