You’ll notice how the personnel packages changed as the Steelers went deeper in the playoffs. Fullback Roosevelt Nix was a big part of the Steelers’ wild-card victory over the Dolphins, but he did not play a snap in the red zone over the final two playoff games against the Chiefs and Patriots.
Red-zone efficiency can turn games. It’s interesting to note that the Steelers scored a touchdown when Nix was used when the Steelers had first-and-goal from inside the 1 early in the wild-card game against the Dolphins. When the Steelers faced the exact same situation against the Patriots they failed to score on three consecutive plays before settling for a field goal. It was arguably the turning point in the game.

im gonna be saying it all offseason. it will be futile for us to draft/sign RB's and/or receivers/tight ends this offseason if they arent proficient red zone scorers. WE DO NOT NEED TO GET BETTER AT MOVING THE BALL. we just need a means of scoring. and yes, presumably we'll get Martavis back, but thats not necessarily enough. we need to be multiple in our red zone efficient weapons. That big tight end that can actually stay healthy is going to complete everything

I agree entirely. Redzone playcalling becomes predictable when you only have 2-3 options to defend.
