Brutal!!! The wait is killing me...

Tell me about it.

Normally we arrive at my parents' house at 9:30, get the kids settled, start eating as we watch the game.

Last week, I could NOT wait. So, we got there at 8:30. I was pacing back and forth... and, I swear that the clock stopped moving for about 7 minutes.

Then I'll win the lottery and Jennifer Connelly will have sex with me while my wife makes us dinner. (Hey a guy can dream).

Not those types of games. Being out in that mess is a true public hazard. I don't know where you're from, but if you've ever lived through a true icestorm, you'll know exactly what I mean. I went through one in my hometown - three quarters of a 150,000 person city lost power for two or three days from blown transformers. The roads were literally a sheet of ice that you could put hockey skates on and ice skate down. Trees were snapping and falling on power lines, making even more of a mess. It was awful.

Road crews got right to work so we could at least drive. Thank God for my gym membership at the time. That part of town didn't get hit as bad, so at least I could go get hot showers!

Assuming you could even get there at all - they will probably close I-70 for a good stretch in Kansas if it gets bad enough. And before that, you have to get through the Rockies in Colorado, which have gotten near-record snowfall already. All depending on the route you take, of course.

I feel like this time slot benefits the Steelers. Night games rock!! I was ecstatic to see the time change. I get off from Waffle House at 9pm so i get to miss the first quarter and part of the second as opposed to the whole thing. Personally, I hope by the time I get to my Grandparents' house, the game will be decided. (Like 21-0 Steelers)

Looks like the KC ice storm will not be as bad as predicted according to the KC Star

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo., has slightly lowered its estimates on total ice accumulations, but roads will continue to be hazardous until Sunday afternoon....

Some uncertainty remains with the transition of freezing rain to rain. Temperatures probably will rise above freezing Sunday afternoon with any precipitation turning into rain for most of the area. The shift will begin in the south and slowly move north. Temperatures near the Kansas City area, however, will remain near freezing until late evening, according to the Weather Service.

http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article126698584.html

Forecast of just above freezing and light rain/showers throughout the game

Everyone is claiming that the rain will negate the "AB advantage".

I heard Chris Carter once talk about the rain. I'll paraphrase:

"Yes, the rain makes it a little tougher to catch the ball. But, it affects the defense more. As a receiver, you know where you are going; so, you can plant your foot as you anticipate your break. Whereas, a defender has to react, and thus, is more likely to slip."

I'm not counting AB out of this game just yet.

Good point.

I don't remember which game, but the announcer was talking about how AB was having a bad game. Then, I saw the stats, and he had something like 7 for 85. AB's "bad" equals most receivers' "good" day.

steelerdude15

I'm not sure why people are bashing Goodell for the decision to move the game. When the game was moved, it was predicted that the weather was going to be really bad at that time and everyone should know that weather is unpredictable and can change quickly. It was predicted that this ice storm was supposed to be the worst that that area would have seen in over a decade.

As to the thing about 'manning up' and playing, that wouldn't be the concern since NFL stadiums have anti-freeze that runs underneath the grass or turf to prevent the field from freezing. The main concern would be everybody's safety getting to and from the game, which is more important than anything else.

I'd prefer if the game was at 1:00pm too, but there is nothing we can do about. If the weather could have cause a potentially dangerous situation with icy roads, why risk it?

I have a strong suspicion that if the NFL kept the game at the original start time, the roads were bad, and people died because of it, the same people bashing Goodell for the NFL's decision to move the game, would be bashing him if people died in car accidents on their way to the stadium.

Yup, weather is unpredictable. Last week, it snowed where I live. We were supposed to get 1 to 3 inches, then it went up to 3 to 7 inches, and we ultimately got 10 inches. Weather predictions are just that, predictions so its better to be safe than sorry.
