And so, the showdown will take place Christmas Day between the Baltimore Ravens and the Steelers for the AFC North Division title at Heinz Field, as it should be.
Before anyone can turn that page this week, some sort of homage needs to be paid by the Steelers to the Cincinnati Bengals. Just when anyone might think the Bengals cannot find a different or compelling way to lose at home to the Steelers again, they go ahead and do it.
This time, they blew a two-touchdown lead, got pecked incessantly by Chris Boswell’s six field goals and aided the Steelers winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter with penalties on four consecutive plays. It wasn’t the kind of implosion that took place in that Jan. 9 playoff game at Paul Brown Stadium, but it was a sight to see as the Steelers roared from behind to win their fifth consecutive game, 24-20.
That boosted the Steelers record in Paul Brown Stadium to 16-3. They are 9-5 alone atop the AFC North Division, a championship they can clinch Sunday with a win against the Ravens.
“I wouldn’t call it a meltdown, I don’t even want to be in the paper saying that,’’ guard Ramon Foster said. “I’m just glad it was them and not us.”............
