Maybe Randy Bullock didn’t have time to pack his shoes.

Bullock gave his postgame interview in a Texas A&M golf shirt, jeans and bare feet. He’d just kicked three field goals in a Steelers’ 24-14 win against the Giants that started about 48 hours after his most immediate concern was finishing a round of golf in Houston.

“I got the call, jumped on a plane and came out,” Bullock said. “Most of the time, you don’t get a call on Friday. That was kind of last minute, but you’ve got to be prepared to get up and go whenever the opportunity calls”

This was all necessitated by Chris Boswell’s Friday abdominal injury. Bullock flew to Pittsburgh early Saturday morning, signed around 8:30 a.m (http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2016/12/04/Steelers-sign-kicker-in-emergency/stories/201612040203)., took part in the walkthrough, got some extra time in with holder Jordan Berry and long snapper Greg Warren, and voila.

“[We’d] really just been working our tails off in terms of identifying Randy and getting him up to speed,” coach Mike Tomlin said.......

None of the kids remember Tim Mazzetti, the Falcons K in 1978. He jumped from behind a bar to kick for Atlanta.

Bullock made over $70,000 from his short stay here. More than most regular joes make in a year.

I imagine he'll be picked up by someone else soon.

Not a bad gig...lol

I heard Phil Dawson talk about that, and he said:
"I get paid a million dollars a year to watch football games from the best seat in the stadium... and, occasionally, I have to go out & kick a football. I'll do this job until I can't walk any more."

A million per season, you can play for twenty seasons, and you get to retire at 45 with no aftereffects from significant injuries. Yep, I hope that my son is a kicker.

While kickers are not "real" football players, they do have more pressure on them than almost anyone except the QB in many games. They have to have a lot mental toughness to go out there with the game on the line and nail it through the uprights.

I think I might be a punter instead though. He's rarely the goat the way kickers are, although they are more likely to actually get roughed up from time to time.

Steelers let him go so he could catch on with another team. But the bungholes? He will notice a difference right away.
