PITTSBURGH -- If you predicted doom and gloom for the Steelers without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5536) under center, please raise your hand.

OK, I admit, I'm one of the many with my hand raised.

With no Roethlisberger and a good Atlanta Falcons (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/atl/atlanta-falcons) team coming to Pittsburgh, the Steelers appeared to be very beatable in Week 1.

But thanks to a total team effort, Pittsburgh held everything together for four quarters and overtime to pull off a 15-9 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons (http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=300912023). The game was capped by a 50-yard TD run in overtime by running back Rashard Mendenhall (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11257), one of the many Steelers contributors......................

Is this guy smoking bad crack or something?

Yes - the Steelers won today and other than Mendy's 50 yard scamper into the EZ to win the game in OT and Hines' clutch catches, the O didn't exactly set the world on fire in this game and especially not Dixon. While I realize he is a young guy who was starting just his 2nd NFL game, I think it became even more clear than it already was that this O needs Big Ben back behind center. The O just doesn't have the same "oomph" without him imho.

I didn't see anything too inflammatory or remarkable in what was said in the article? Basically it looked to me as if he was crediting the Steelers for coming together for a total team victory.

As for a personal observation, I'm real anxious to see how Ben can do with a more reliable short yardage back. I think Redman is going to make Roethlsiberger absolutely lethal on 3rd and short's!

I felt good going into today's game I knew we could win it. We have alot of work to do in the next three weeks without Ben. Hopefully this win will give Dixon a boost going into next week. The Titans will tell us where we stand with Dixon at quarterback.

Everybody knows that Dixon (or Byron) is not Ben. And nobody is fooled into thinking we are playoff bound without Ben. But they proved today the can rally and win as a team. Great efforts all around, guys. :drink:

I would prefer they keep all their bullshit hoopla down for just one more game. We play better as underdogs.
