I really don't know how realistic this is: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/the-steelers-expect-to-have-big-ben-under-center-against-the-ravens/

When the Steelers (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/PIT/pittsburgh-steelers) return from their bye to practice this week, team officials anticipate quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/493043/ben-roethlisberger) will participate in drills and be ready to face the Ravens (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/BAL/baltimore-ravens) in Week 9. Roethlisberger had surgery to repair a meniscus issue in his knee earlier this month, but the team's doctors expected two-to-three weeks of recovery time, and he is on schedule for that time frame.

Of course knowing the validity of steeler injury reports he could easily miss the next 3 games as well

That doesn't usually happen with Ben.

If I recall correctly, Ben doesn't play well in Baltimore when healthy. I'd let him recover a week or two longer.

Yeah, bring Batch back for a game. He's the last Steelers QB to win in Baltimore.

I said the same as Salamander in a previous thread, but yeah, you make good point. It's a lot better.

Ben doesn't do well in games coming off injury anyway. Better to bring him in in a situation he normally struggles in anyway than the next week in a situation he usually wins in (home game against NFC with Dallas next)

Nah. Dallas is a good team, and we only lose to bad teams.

Ben needs to come back only when truly ready. What we don't need is a nagging thing that makes his passes suck the rest of the season. I hate to lose as much as everyone else, and especially in our division, but if 1 more loss means Ben comes back at 75% or better, then next week works better, IMO.

Injury report says Decastro and Wallace are OUT/DNP. Keep Ben out 1 more game, I say.

I agree.

I believe a few years back we made the playoffs and still played Ben the last game of the season even though he was injured and it did nothing but aggravate the injury and then he played poorly in the playoff game and we lost.

2011 was the prime example of this.

BB played against the Niners (even though he was still injured), in order to try to get the #1 seed. They lost, dropped to the #5 seed anyway, and BB wasn't ever the same.

Then, in the playoffs, the Steelers were in game-winning FG range, when a hobbled BB took back-to-back sacks (a total loss of 24 yards), knocking them out of FG range. A healthy BB doesn't get sacked like that.

Suggs comments this week were hilarious. As much as he has been a thorn in the Steelers side over the years, he's one of those guys I hate but have to admit if he was on my team Id love him.

I do understand all of the concern over Ben's healthy knee and all, BUT in my opinion if Ben is in any way able to play, he should play ! He's the franchise QB, this is a division game and as all games, it's a MUST win. True, we need Ben healthy for the remaining games in order to make the play-off's and to win in the play-off's, but a win in Balt. is one of the factor's needed to get to the play-off's. So far the win against the bungholes is a great step for the division and the brown's ( in my book ) isn't a guaranteed win, so we have to make our chances against the ratbird's as great as possible. And Ben at center gives us that. So, in my opinion, if Ben is good enough to dress, he should start.

Ben said he would've played vs the Taperiots if it was a playoff game.

Ben's gonna always want to play unless he's sitting in a wheelchair. And probably even then he would want to suit up :D.

Maybe the staff should have him as back-up and then yank Landry and Ben can come in like he did against the clowns last year. He lit it up, and technically it was his first game back. There, we just fix the glitch.

The decline of Ben has started.

The decline of Ben has started.

Decline? I disagree. Ben has always played poorly when coming back from an injury. Including today, he's now 2-6 in his first game back from injury. Lets see what he does the rest of the season before we start to say that his play is declining.

He's also played poorly on the road, and has been for the past few seasons. That part of his game has declined.

But he's a totally different QB at home.
