View Full Version : Jekyle and Hyde Steelers

Did anyone think that all was over after redemption Sunday? I sure didn't. This is just the game I was waiting for to see where this team is at. A road game against a putrid opponent like the Miami Dolphins.

This act truly makes me sick to the stomach. If there is a team out there that looks as if they couldn't beat a high school team on their best day, play the Steelers and they will give your fans something to cheer about for one Sunday.

This team is just as much Jekyle and Hyde as Tomlin is to Cowher. Cowher's teams would beat bad teams into submission but would flake against the good ones. Tomlin's teams seem to handle the good ones but can't handle the bad ones. Is it possible that Rooney can have Cowher coach when we play bad teams while Tomlin coaches vs the good?

This has happened year after year. Don't get me wrong, Tomlin has his strengths but this is truly his weakness. When it continues to happen it has to be the coach. I don't want to hear about the injuries. This team has done this plenty of times with a full deck. Even with the injuries they should have beaten this team by no less than 10 points. They act as if they can't pull it together against any of these bad teams on the road when the opposition gets a lead.

I guess Tomlin needs to give this team Viagra just to get up anytime they play these type of teams. They have the mental fortitude of a peanut. Let's face it, this team isn't going anywhere. They have all the talent in the world but are mentally weak. This shows up in the postseason as it has the past couple of years although injuries aided to it as well.

New England is a real team. They are superiorly coached and don't take weeks off vs bad teams. They will show that to the Steelers next week. The Steelers are frauds I hate to say. Will they be up for this game? Sure, but teams that take every team seriously and prepare just as hard beat the teams that show up when they feel like it.

Even if the Steelers happen to pull out a win next week, I still feel the Pats are the better team. I feel if we would meet again after next week, the Pats would win because they prepare to win no matter who they play every Sunday and are not mentally week. It saddens me to say these things but I feel that now is time for me to face the painful true reality.

I swear, if the Steelers ever played a game against 11 people on crutches, Tomlin would make every player on his team play with crutches as well

So, what's the point, exactly?

I am so sick of the Patriots penis envy exhibited by this fanbase as a whole. To everyone who is so enamored with the "Patriot way," go root for the fucking Patriots already.

You're taking this the wrong way. I'm not enamoured with them. However, they don't have these mental lapses losing to bad teams. The Steelers are capable of beating anyone including the Patriots. They are also capable of losing to anyone.

The Patriots are capable of beating anyone, but they can't lose to just anyone. That's a big difference. Those attributes show up in the postseason so what type of tendencies would you like your team to go in the postseason with? The former or the latter?

That's what I'm getting at! Yes they are capable of winning next week, but if they continue the same tendencies throughout the season as they did today with the Dolphins, Do you think they would beat them in the postseason? I don't, not even with a head to head regular season win.

Aaron Rogers is currently stinking it up big time at home in Green Bay against the Cowgirls.

What?????? I thought after reading these posts that all ineptitude was in Pittsburgh and our coaching was garbage and everybody else is better prepared. That doesn't happen on other teams :coffee:

Fair enough. My little rant was borne out of frustration and wasn't intended for you personally. :drink:

It's all good man! I think most of us rant a bit when things like this happen. Especially against teams that have no business beating us. Losing to the Pats is always very hard to swallow, but at least teams like that are a worthy opponent. Losing to teams like Miami frustrates me to no end though. I'm sure there are many that feel the same as well as yourself. This just really sucks.

Steelers are a slightly better than average team with an offense capable of the occasional explosive play. Nothing more, nothing less.

Have a defense that can somewhat keep that offense in check? That's all you need to beat this team as they self implode.

Fans want to point the finger at Tomlin and I do agree he deserves blame...

But, the one who really deserves blame is Ben. He's has been very average in road games and even before the knee injury today he wasn't playing well.

Wow.....that is quite a glaring set of statistics regarding Ben's stats between home and away the last few seasons. I did not realize it was that disparate.

The other thing to consider is how well he does in Ohio...I don't know what the numbers are but that could possibly make those numbers look even worse?

Hasn't played at CIN or CLE this year.

Last year he was 0/1 against the Bengals and 3/2 against the Browns. Take those out and he was 2/6 in 4 games.

2014 was 3/0 at Cincy and 1/2 at Cleveland in a loss. That leaves 5/3 in the other 6 games.

Of course Dallas entered the game 4-1 and is now 5-1. Miami was 1-4 with their only win coming because a browns kicker missed the winning fg

At this point, this steelers team ceiling is a wildcard loss

Season is a third over and we've already lost the wildcard, if we've even made the playoffs at all. Okay.

Personally, I prefer to see how this team plays in December before making any kind of determination like that.

Hence saying at this point. Yeah this team could improve into a Super Bowl contender, but that would require playing a lot better than they are right now. The offense needs to get better on the road, this defense needs to get better period, and they need to be more focused overall as a team
