Outside of the Steelers, I personally don't give a damn about the NFL anymore, and I know I'm not alone in thone feelings.

Too much fluff. Not enough substance. Incompetent Officials. Bad rules. Fantasy Football being a cheap gimmick.

That, and attention-whoring hypocritical assclowns like Colin Crappernick and his shitty social justice "protest" about nothing. Yeah, shitting all over the freedoms for our country and cop-bashing with an asinine protest isn't going to win you many viewers and fans. Colin is free to protest whatever he wants and the NFL is allowed to support him, it's also the fans' right to respond accordingly by not watching.

Everything comes with a price.

Goodell will forever be known for tearing down the wall that Rozelle and Tagliabue built with his incompetence.

Watched the Steelers/Redskins game and listened to the Steelers/Bengals game on radio. That's been the extent of my NFL football consumption thus far this season.

I only hope the trend continues and leads to a certain assclown's long overdue termination...

Just to add to everything above:

Adding Thursday night games when we don't need them. MNF is already a dead product (unless Pittsburgh plays :chuckle:)
Adding stupid musical acts to "NFL Kickoff Pre-game" Super Bowl Pre-game, Super Bowl pre-pre-game....
Pro Bowl nonsense
NFL Honors (ESPYs is enough already)
DirecTV's dumb contract.
Fixing rules that don't need to be fixed. Kickoffs at the 30...er 35...er 30.....er 35......Touchbacks at the 20....er 25. F'n ENOUGH ALREADY.
Dumb and wasteful investigations into nonsense allegations (Looking at you, Al-Jazeera/AlQaeda/ISIS news sympathizer NOT SPORTS JOURNALISTS)

So many more to list...

...... 3 minutes of game for every 10 minutes of commercials.

There's too many commercials, too many gimmicks, lesser quality product and the games quite frankly haven't been great match ups...

Not to mention the piss poor officiating almost every game.

1. Protesting I don't need on my day off.
2. Too many commercials.
3. Most play-by-play analysts make me want to cut my ears off from either too much ball washing or too much stupidity.
4. Too many players getting suspended and too much other controversy.
5. Poor officiating.
6. *At least we don't have to hear about Peyton Manning, Brett Favre or Tim Tebow anymore.

7. Constantly "tweaking" the sport to cater to a bunch of fantasy football nerds who have zero emotional investment and couldn't give two shits less otherwise...

8. because of the short turn around, injured players that would normally play on Sunday don't play Thursday which leads to a lesser product. Not to mention, preparation time is decreased.

Nothing lasts forever

Ratings may be catching up with the sport withering from the bottom levels up - if I ran the NFL I would be more concerned about this story that ran in the Post-Gazette than ratings that can at least partially be explained away by cord cutting and bad games

Endangered species: Freshman football in Western Pa. fading

The shrinking number of high school football players across the country in recent years already has been documented. But the compelling evidence of declining participation hits home in Western Pennsylvania — in ninth grade.

Many varsity teams in the WPIAL have considerably smaller rosters than a decade or so ago. But freshman football in the WPIAL should be on the endangered species list. It’s moving closer and closer to extinction....

And everyone from coaches to athletic directors will tell you one of the main reasons for declining participation in football at all levels is fear of concussions. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, there were 29,000 fewer high school players last year than 2008.

As the popularity of the sports declines at the grass roots no surprise that is going to start showing up at the pro level

I wish the USFL was still around. Then there would be some pro football to watch.
