So the Steelers are 2-0, and you say so what. It’s a long NFL season with 14 more games to go. Lots can happen between now and New Year’s Day.

That is true, but it’s also true winning your first two games is a pretty good indicator for making the playoffs.

According to fivethirtyeight.com, the Steelers, and the other teams with perfect records after two weeks, have a 61 percent chance of making the playoffs. Teams that are 0-2, by contrast, have a 10 percent chance.

The Steelers have started 2-0 only four times under Mike Tomlin. They also started 2-0 in 2010, 2008 and 2007. They made the playoffs in every one of those previous seasons and advanced to the Super Bowl after the ’10 and ’08 seasons.

The Steelers have started 3-0 only twice in the Tomlin era – in ’10 and ’07. Believe it or not, before that the previous time the Steelers started 3-0 was 1992. That was Bill Cowher’s first team and the Steelers won the division title.

The Steelers can get to 3-0 Sunday in Philadelphia.

I don't subscribe to that hocus pocus.

Long way to go. The NFL season is a marathon, not a sprint.

Normally I am the optimist, but as far as the playoffs go: the Steelers started 6-2 in 2009.

I still foresee 19-0, but I will not look past any game on the schedule. The Steelers are 2-0... and, 3-0 is my only goal.
