The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly had one of their draft picks go down injured during the team's Monday practice and it was defensive tackle Javon Hargrave. According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Hargrave, this year's third round draft pick out of South Carolina State, left practice with an apparent knee injury. On the team's initial depth chart that was released Monday morning, Hargrave was listed as the team's starting nose tackle. Developing story...........

He will probably be out a while. At this point, I am getting numb to all the injuries and expecting it to only get worse during the season

Do we really have more injuries than other teams?

Didn't Green Bay have a great season one recent year with practically half of their starters ending up on IR?

Every freakin year.

I think they should make each player wear knee and ankle braces during practice. It's getting ridiculous.

He won't play in the first game if he couldn't continue practice. Most likely an MCL.

I understand the panic because the number of injuries we had last year was enormous.

4 games and more for Ben,10 games for Bell, entire season for Pouncey,Deangelo who miss the 2 games in the playoffs,Antonio Brown who miss the game in Demver.....

So be happy about short-term injuries? I will choose unhappy.

While he isn't a marquee player, it does hurt because of the injuries on the DL at the moment.

No it's not a matter of being happy about them. It's about not blowing shit out of proportion. It's about not thinking God has it in for us. That injuries are unique to the Steelers. It's about realizing what we still have is still pretty damn good. See the difference yet? :coffee:

All injuries suck. But overall I think we came out of the offseason in pretty good shape as far as injuries are concerned. I think we certainly go into the season in better shape this season than last. Last year we lost Pouncey and Suisham going into the season. Both those losses cost us in production and games. You can certainly attribute at least one early season loss to not having a dependable kicker.

This year we lost Golson presumably for the season. How can you quantify the loss of something you never actually had on the field? Dupre is tougher one to gauge, but still he faded badly down the stretch. I know we held out great hope for his improvement, but nothing can be assumed. And he still might come back and gives us a decent last half of the season? All the other injuries are of the nagging variety. They could factor into early season play, they might not? All in all when you consider who we have healthy ( every starter on offense for example) I think we're in pretty good shape and have little to complain about.

I agree Zulater, all reports on Golson are he is healing fast and already in a boot. Dupree will hopefully come back week 8 for a final stretch infusion of a rested OLB, plus Golson could get some playing time before the playoffs to help his progress. We have a kicker to start this season so we are good there. I think we are in pretty good shape this season so far. Our OL is healthy and that should do wonders for Ben's health. Our WR's are all healthy and I think the first couple weeks teams are going to get scorched by anyone not named AB as they will be trying to shut him down. Week 4 Bell will return and have a HUGE game. I am looking forward to this season, especially the second half when everything should start coming together for a deep playoff run!

Really. Any injury to Cam Thomas while he was here would have been addition by subtraction.

As far as I know, he was never hurt or missed a game. I think every other player missed some time at some point during his stay.

Hargrave says he has a quad injury, not a knee injury. Doesn't know if he'll practice today. Hopeful for Monday.

reminds me a lot of when Martavis was coming off his suspension last season and he ended up sitting out for a 5th game even though Tomlin made it sound like he was a sure thing. At least we only needed a walk off TD to beat a terrible Chargers team

The chargers were favorite in this games...It was a accomplishment that the Steelers had won this game because the Steelers had no passing game with Vick.

Vick completely shut down our offense(and Antonio Brown) during the 3 games that he was our QB.

Vick was anemic against the Ravens (less than 5 yards per pass attempt), same thing against the chargers where his stats were inflated because of one play of 72 yards (Great play call by Ben) and against the cards, Vick had only 6 passing yards in the first half!

Bell was dominant when Vick was here and our defense has given an incredible effort, otherwise it would have been impossible to win 2 games with Vick as starter
