The Steelers have been so unlucky with the injuries with the last 4 first round draft pick(2012 to 2015)

Decastro:Injured in a preseason game in 2012
Jones:Injured for several weeks in his second season
Shazier: often injured
Now Dupree....

Only one player can return off the IR.

What happens to Golson? Carry him on the roster until he hopefully heals?

Moats and Chickfila have to carry the load. Damn.

I just hate the false hope like Pouncey last year....

I have now no confidence in Tomlin for injuries...Tomlin had saying before the game against the Panthers that Dupree had a chance to play .It's ridiculous.Tomlin is not obliged to say everything, but that's not a reason to say ridiculous things.

Tomlin is worse than Belichick for the injuries. In fact, I do not know another head coach be as inaccurate that Tomlin for the injuries.

Yep - he presumably knew Dupree had surgery last week

Helps explain the Gilbert move - cannot bring both Golson and Dupree back from IR

Let me know when Roethlisberger is carried on the injury report for the better part of a decade with a shoulder "injury"...

polamalubeast

No, but in the case of Ladarius Green, if Tomlin would say what's his injury, the rumors and speculation would be over. But for now, nobody knows if it's a concussion or his ankle which is the problem.

Tomlin is the head coach the less accurate in the NFL for the injuries.Last year, Tomlin said that the injury of Shazier against the 49ers was not serious and he missed 4 games!

Can someone send me the link where Tomlin said that Dupree was going to be just fine.

Also the link where it says that a head coach has to say anything about a players injuries, anytime, until three days before a regular season game. I'm sure Tomlin's withholding information just to piss people off. Sounds like good times to me.

I'm not being obtuse when I ask: Why does it matter what Tomlin tells the fans and/or media about injuries?

Really... I'm asking.

Because, I just don't get people's ire over this. Whether Dupree is injured or not, has no effect on how much pollo asado that I am going to grill for the games.

Pouncey almost made it back for the Seattle game. But then he had a set back, which was further complicated by a staff infection. No one was deceiving us. Just shitty luck.

...there are teams that have used sleight of hand in reporting injuries.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher, who resigned last January after 15 seasons with the team, acknowledges telling a fib or two to try to protect his players.

"Sometimes when a guy had an ankle (injury), I might list it as a knee, just because I didn't want people knowing where to take shots at my players," Cowher says.

Analysis: Injury report is game within the game (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2007-11-22-injury-report-cover_N.htm)

We'll see. There has been talk the Steelers want to do away with the LB rotations. They want the starters to be on the field 85% of the time. I don't want to see Jones on the field for even one play. Haha

No problem what Cowher did on that.

My problem is when Tomlin said the injury of a player is very minor and after he miss four games(Like Shazier last year), it's not normal!

Oh well......another day and another season ending injury

Deebo and Chickillo will see some action.

The bolded could be very important. The Steelers need to develop another pass rusher on the right side to compliment Dupree on the left side and his injury opens the door for Chickillo. If Dupree were present Chickillo probably would not see a lot of playing time. With his injury the Steelers have no choice but to see what they have in Chickillo.

Chickillo is the best option to develop as Dupree's compliment. Jarvis Jones is what he is at this point, Deebo is great but he is getting older and Moats is a solid backup and no more

Chickillo may very well never amount to anything useful. However reports about his improvement has been rampant and he has shown flashes of reported improvement during training camp and the preseason games. Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot made mention of this several times in his training camp reports and Tunch Ilkin of Steelers.com even went so far as to call him "the team's best pass rusher in camp". Showing only flashes is of some concern but Chickillo has had his share of nagging injuries which could be explain why he has not been more consistent.

Obviously showing flashes of good play in pre season does not guarantee Chickillo will be any good but there appears to be something to work with and he should finally get his chance.

So to recap: We haven't even played a game yet, and we're now missing a third of our starting offense, and have our same defense as 2014, with nobody we drafted in the past two years even ready to see the field. So that's a nice help.

This defense is much different and better than those in 2014.I mean, we have a different DC, this defense is faster, younger, Tuitt and Shazier are much better now and in 2014,Ike Taylor and Troy Polamalu were too old.

Dupree and Golson could also be back this year

One of those two, anyway, but I'm not holding my breath for either.

Butler has been a big improvement so far - willing to make adjustments to compensate for personnel problems ... it's just frustrating that it looked like we were on the way to solving those personnel problems and now we're not really.

Oh well, maybe if we get everybody back, and Burns and Davis are ready by then, 2017 will be like some sort of triple mega-draft with three first-round and three second-round picks.
