In this Next Steelers Household Names series, I intentionally saved Matakevich for last. That’s because, for all the good that Javon Hargrave (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/276691/javon-hargrave) and Eli Rogers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/254682/eli-rogers) have done through their first two pre-season games this year, neither of them has been as consistently above the line as Matakevich .

My guess is he'll get more playing time Thursday. If he continues to play well I think he makes the roster.

he better make the team. I dont care if SJ has been playing special teams all his life, the upside is too good with Matakevich. I very much doubt Matakevich with his football IQ would be anything less than an asset for special teams anyways

Players aren't drafted for what they bring now. With exceptions of course. But for what they have the potential to be. Matakevich has a ceiling too high to see from here. He makes the 53, IMO.
