I'm sure that's his intention, but rushing back off a high ankle sprain is usually not advisable. If he has to miss a game or two it's better than rushing back and having it linger through the season.

Anyway the MRI should tell him where things stand. Hopefully it's nothing much.

Love Cam, but when I see high ankle sprain, I have negative thoughts. Hope he can recover quickly. CHey, Gravedigger, and 2itt will be an awesome D-line

One of those injuries that nags and nags until it sits you on the bench...

Ankle sprains seem to always be a wait and see type of injury and, let's hope for the best.

Ugh. Did anyone see tape of when / how it happened? It is what it is but just curious if was due to an illegal chop block

Just let him fully heal first and then let him play. It would be a bigger boost for the defense if he can play at 100%, not 70 or 80%.

I agree, between Hargrave and McCullers we can cover for him if he needs a game or two to get 100%

The NFL season is short.....Each game are important.

I know, but its more important for the defense if Cam is fully healed and can be fully effective on the field. We've seen at times (Ben and Troy just to name guys) how our players rush back from an injury and aren't fully effective performance wise.

I understand but if Heyward can help us even if he is not at 100%, he has to play. You have to play with injuries sometimes.

In the case of Roethlisberger in 2011, it was at the end of the season and he had to play against the 49ers, since at that time, the Steelers were at the number one seed in the AFC and with a loss, the steelers would fell at the number 5 seed, so the steelers had to win to stay at this position.

For 2012, the steelers were fighting for a playoff spot, if the Steelers would have waited, it would have been too late.

Last year, Roethlisberger should have come back against the Chiefs if he was healthy enough, since at least he would not have been rusty in the game against the Bengals.

2006 was the only time that Roethlisberger returned too soon.

im in favor of letting him sit for the 1st game. 2.5 weeks is an awful fast time frame for a player with a high ankle sprain to be maximally efficient. that one week will make him more effective for the rest of the season

I like his optimism if nothing else. :chuckle:
