Michael Phelps won his 20th and 21st gold medals Tuesday night, extending his record for the most golds of any Olympian ever. His win in the 200 meter butterfly made him the first person to win individual swimming gold in Olympic games 12 years apart. He also became the oldest man to win individual swimming gold, breaking a 96-year-old record set by Hawaiian surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku in 1920.

But there is an even older record he now has in his sights:

Typically our oldest sports records are at most 75 or 100 years old, so it's absolutely wild to think of a sports record that spans millennia. But if we consider today's modern Olympics to be an extension of the ancient games held in Greece, Phelps has now tied a record.............

Hopefully Leonidas enjoyed his 2,000 years on top.

Even though Phelps is a Ravens fan, he is still a badass.

He basically shut that goofball "rival" swimmer up. (This is the guy trying to get inside Phelps' head in the waiting room before the semis).

I am so glad that he came back for these games - - - there was some disappointment in his London showing, and when he said that he was done, I didn't believe him.... He is the most amazing swimming machine that I have ever seen... But last night, he brought me to tears when he was having trouble climbing out of the pool after the relay finals... I swam for over 15 years and coached for many..... Seldom did I see the proof that the swimmer had given everything possible, but there were times that I almost had to lift a swimmer from the water.... The heart that he showed last night was amazing.... It will be a sad day when he actually retires...... Fingers crossed that he will win the 200 IM....
