Did he get hurt tackling or walking?

Well let's hope it isn't serious. Damn that kid can't get a break.

That's lisfranc territory. If that is the case, assume Golson is done for the year.

Yeah. Really hope it's a minor sprain of some sort. Guy can't catch a break.

And...Steelers can't catch a break. Golson is a terrific CB.

Noooooo! I was excited about him, I was hoping to see him as the nickel corner.

I'd say he's done for year #2. Lets hope Davis can pull it all together.

dear god i hope not. maybe we'll get lucky and itll be a more minor lisfranc injury like Bell's during his rookie year. I wonder what this does for our nickel package. Bump William Gay back inside, Cockrell and Burns as the starters on the outside? Burns and Davis might be forced to grow up really fast

Good Christ, it's still two months until the season starts. At this rate, the only players left by the opener will Ben throwing passes to a donkey. Next up: Pouncey sprains his MCL while sleeping.

I really was excited for this Golson kid too. Now it looks like he'll be halfway through his rookie contact without even finishing a practice. Yayyyy

Well at least have the cap space to sign yet another CB . . .

He's done for the year. No way he comes back and gets on the field.

And no way I use the IR/designated to return for him.

Edit: The is no "IR/designated to return". They can choose what player they can take off.

Huh, its 12 months and the start of August. He can come back in the middle of the year with a PUP designation first cant he? someone refresh my memory on the rules for that, he has to practice in some capacity after like week 6 right? man this guy cant catch a break

In order to be on the PUP list, I think you cannot have practiced AT ALL yet. If you get injured during the first minute of the first practice of camp, then it's tough shit, go on IR or the active roster.

What you're thinking of is probably the rule that if you start out on PUP, you have to rejoin practices at a certain point and then the team has 3 weeks to decide whether to put you on the active roster or IR.

I guess it's possible that he could return midway through the season, but I wouldn't count on it. Lisfranc is one of those things like a bad MCL or high ankle sprain that can be "healed" in three months, but you're not going to be the same until next year. In the meantime, you're just barely limping along, and that doesn't do us any good.

what fluke injury, how the hell do you sprain your mid foot?

damn! I want this guy on the field so bad.

BlackAndGold
08-02-2016, 03:12 PM
You can't expect someone who has had TWO career padded practices to come back mid-season and help the team.

If it's 12 weeks, he's done for the year.

Exactly, a total of 3.5 Latrobe practices in two years. Lets hope he's won't be reading the memoirs and remains of Cortez Allen during recovery.

My thoughts exactly. A shame too, I really like the kid and think, if he can stay healthy, his athleticism should prove well at CB. It makes me wonder why we're seeing all these types of injuries. Maybe it's just that we're in the now, but I don't seem to remember players getting injured this much during training camp a couple of decades ago.

I think it's always happened, but normally it's distributed randomly so it's a lot of sixth-rounders and special teamers picking up the injuries ... whereas lately it's been unbelievably shit luck where it's mostly starters or up-and-coming guys who you hope are going to have a big impact. We also didn't have so many weed suspensions before.

Yeah look at Junior Galette. Left Achilles last year and right out of the gate, the right one this year. Big news here in Richmond, where the Skins hold camp.

Well, last year we had Adams and Golson and Suisham, before that we had Spence, Burress and I believe Spaeth, DeCastro the year before that, although that might have been in a preseason game ... anyway, we;ve had a lot of shit.

Curious how does one get a lisfranc injury?

Usually in a car accident, or in football if you're planted on the ball of your foot and someone falls on your heel, driving your foot straight down into the ground. (Similar to Ben's injury against the Raiders last year). Although in this case it sounds like it just sort of ... happened?

This Injury is the exact same one that Joel Embiid had, and he's been out for 27 months...which is average for that Injury. Bottom line....this guy is a BUST! He will never amount to anything. Just release him now. I mean it's not like he was ever going to be any good anyways.

A Lisfranc injury is an injury to the ligaments that connect the bones of the midfoot and forefoot. Sometimes, the injury is a simple dislocation (ligament injury (https://www.verywell.com/ligament-joint-stability-is-aided-by-these-structures-2549236)), and sometimes a broken bone occurs-- a Lisfranc fracture/dislocation. A dislocation occurs when there is a separation of the normal joint alignment between the forefoot and midfoot. When there is also a fracture, the broken bone (https://www.verywell.com/all-about-broken-bones-2548714) usually occurs in the midfoot bones.

Looks like he had surgery, so chalk this season up a done for him, maybe he can get in for some duty at the end of the season to at shake some rust off for maybe a comeback next season?

I don't know. I was excited about the kid at first. I still hold out a bit of hope. But there's a maxim that also applies here: once is a mistake, twice a coincidence, three times a pattern. I looking forward to seeing what he can do, but if he gets injured once more after this round, I'm done with holding out any kind of hope.
