Report: Senquez Golson To Undergo MRI

BY ALEX KOZORA MAY 26, 2016

Don’t want to ring all the alarm bells here but it appears that Senquez Golson went for an MRI after today’s practice.

The news was initially reported by Dale Lolley over at the Observer Reporter, leading off his notes from today’s practice. According to him, Golson didn’t participate in today’s practice and left the UPMC Sports Complex to get looked at.

Lolley does caution that this could be precautionary and that Golson told him he felt “good” yesterday. Of course, we had no idea of the severity of Golson’s injury last year either so we’ve seen the team be close to the vest before, especially on anything injury-related.

The team’s second round pick is looking to make his first footprint in the NFL after missing last year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. The injury came during OTAs and he was put on injured reserve during training camp.

Early indications had Golson playing on the outside to kick off OTAs though as Matthew Marczi pointed out, Golson wasn’t too worried about where he was playing. Now, let’s just hope the results of this test aren’t going to again hinder his ability to play, period.

I really hope this isn't one of those "damage goods" situations.

Of course we don't know what the MRI is for but, if it's his shoulder, I'm worried.

Hopefully it is just a checkup or something routine in his recovery.

He had this MRI on the Thursday before a holiday weekend? Nice timing. Plus great way to put off getting results for almost a week. I get the feeling he's fine.

Obviously Tomlin is just playing cool shades poker games. Golson is a paraplegic. Obviously.

Guess they wait until training camp and then put him under the knife and back on IR for the season.

Steelers' Golson confirms MRI, but denies it was on shoulder

BY CHRIS ADAMSKI | Tuesday, May 31, 2016

Steelers cornerback Senquez Golson confirmed an MRI was performed on him recently, but he emphasized it wasn't on a part of his body that many might think it was.

“The MRI wasn't on the shoulder,” Golson said Tuesday after the Steelers' fourth organized team activity session of the offseason. “Shoulder is 100 percent ready to go.”

Golson missed all of his rookie 2015 season because of a left shoulder injury suffered during last season's OTAs. A second-round pick last year, Golson never participated in a training camp practice before being placed on injured reserve.

He said Tuesday his absence from OTA practices would last “just a couple days,” and added he “wasn't worried” injury issues would linger over the long term.

Golson did not divulge which part of his body was subjected to the MRI other than to say it was “soft tissue.”

“Shoulder is 100 percent,” he said. “MRI was something else.”

If it's truly a soft-tissue injury, I'm not too worried about it in the end of May beginning of June. Unless it's a torn-something, he'll be ready to go by camp, and that's where I want to see him excel.

Golson enlists help of trainer to improve durability

By Mark Kaboly

Nobody knows much about Senquez Golson. How can they?

Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler admitted as much last week. William Gay echoed the same thing Wednesday during the second day of a three-day mandatory minicamp at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

It has been 14 months since the Steelers used a second-round pick on the ball-hawking cornerback from Mississippi, and all they have to show for it is a couple of spring practices, a torn labrum and a mysterious lower-body injury that has kept Golson from participating fully the past three weeks.

In a season where they are counting on Golson to ease the issues of a rebuilding secondary, he is taking a route many Steelers before him have taken: a four-week grind session with renowned Orlando-based trainer Tom Shaw.
