Over at Steelers Fever, every year, teegre & I would coordinate a "Steelers Fever Consensus Mock Draft".

We would start with the first pick... with a thread, a poll, and a discussion. The poll/thread would be up for 12 hours, and then, we'd move on to the next team. So on & so forth until we would get to Pittsburgh's selection, where the poll would stay open for several days.

Why??? This will allow for us to get a sense of who might ACTUALLY be there at pick #25. No joke: we've come pretty close every single year. Have fun with it.

So... as not to break tradition...

"First Annual Steelers Universe Consensus Mock Draft".

Here is how R2 goes.

1. There are no polls. When a team goes on the clock, you post your vote for a player for that team.

2. As soon as a player receives 5 votes, that player is the pick.

3. The fifth person to vote for that player, cuts & pastes the entire list of names... with the new pick added at the end.

We repeat these steps over & over until we get to #58 (Steelers).

(NOTE: As soon as DENVER's pick is decided, we will begin Round 2. I went ahead and posted this thread, because I have to get my kids ready for school and then I have a lengthy commute; so, I wanted this up & ready to go; that way, as soon as the Denver poll is finished, we can start.)

My vote is for:

Christian Hackenberg was en route to being the #1 overall... until the coaching change messed him all up. He got hit so much (David Carr), that his mechanics went to pot. If Hugh Jackson can turn him around, Hackenberg would be the best QB to come out of this draft.

maybe its just me, but it seems unrealistic imo to expect 5 votes all the way through our 2nd round pick by the time the draft comes

I agree with Leonard Floyd, the Brownies are getting one of the best pass rushers in the draft who some mocks had going in the top 10.

and I think that work thing is getting in the way of posters voting. we should just reach our own consensus, c&p it and move on to the next pick...

Kendall Fuller

having gotten their top need of an OT in Round 1, the Titans badly need some secondary help. this pick probably should be either a CB or a safety, still a lot of good players at those positions available:

CB: Kendall Fuller, Artie Burns

S: Karl Joseph, Vonn Bell, Keanu Neal, TJ Green

RB - Derrick Henry

DT - Chris Jones, Kenny Clark
CB - Artie Burns

yes, there are a lot of rumors that the Cowboys are interested enough in Ezekiel Elliott in make him their first round choice. Derrick Henry in the second round would make a lot of sense.

they lost their starting OG Jahri Evans. Cody Whitehair or Josh Garnett?

they cut WR Marques Colston. Michael Thomas or Tyler Boyd?

TE Ben Watson is 35 years old. Hunter Henry?

They have a lot of ILB's. They could be in a similiar situation that we are, where we have a bunch of OLB's that are good enough to play, but are mostly fairly middling, with some potential (Dupree).

EDIT: WOW, i just read that the packers had to move Clay Matthews inside because they were so desperate. I take that back. But OLB could just as easily be seen as something to address. Julius Peppers is ancient. What is he like 37 now?

They have a lot of ILB's. They could be in a similiar situation that we are, where we have a bunch of OLB's that are good enough to play, but are mostly fairly middling, with some potential (Dupree).

EDIT: WOW, i just read that the packers had to move Clay Matthews inside because they were so desperate. I take that back. But OLB could just as easily be seen as something to address. Julius Peppers is ancient. What is he like 37 now?

Good call... who's the top-rated OLB?

ILB... OLB... a linebacker appears to be the pick.

I would move Deion Jones to ILB.

he's faster than a speeding bullet, but only weighs 222 lbs.

could he hold up at ILB?

at OLB, he's graded as a 2nd rounder...

I say it's Deion Jones.

Is he an ILB or an OLB??? It doesn't matter, because they need both. They can draft him now... and figure out where to play him later.

Kentrell Brothers from Missouri is the highest rated ILB still available.

I honestly have no idea, I'll let you guys decide...

Yeah I see him ranked as high as the 2nd best ILB in the draft in some places, but he's a pure in the box thumper and ran a 4.89 40. I wonder how much that will keep teams away

Kenny Clark, DT, UCLA
Adolphus Washington, DT, Ohio St.

Wow, so many players in the 2nd round that I wanted. And to think, I thought there would have been a lot more sexy names to pick from. Really makes you scratch your head about all the people that thought Karl Joseph might make it to our 2nd round pick. CB Jonathan Jones from Auburn is maybe another to add. DT Jihad Ward from Illinois, CB/S Jalen Mills from LSU, CB Sean Davis from Maryland, CB Xavien Howard from Baylor, QB Connor Cook from Michigan State.

I think DT makes a lot of sense here. Clark, Washington, and Hargrave are the three highest rated.

I would prefer Clark or Hargrave.
