I think that this is hilarious! Bronco fans are all pissed off right now. Apparently Osweiler was pissed off that he got sat down in the playoffs in favor of Peyton and wanted nothing to do with the Broncos.
He might end up sucking for the Texans so they didn't necessarily lose too much. They just have to find a QB now. RG3 come on down!

You have got to me kidding me. A couple decent games and he's a $18M/year QB? This league gets more ridiculous with each signing. Where does it stop?

Yep, $18 mil a year seems to be the price for any QB that isn't complete garbage or looks like they might have some potential to succeed

Ben's average of $21.5M per year looks like a bargain against all these guys getting at least $18M per year on average.
I just hope when Ben retires one day that the Steelers do not go out and pay some unproven commodity that kind dough on a long term deal. I tend to think they would not do that.
I do like the Redskins franchising Kirk Cousins, even if it is extremely expensive for 1 year. This gives them team another full year to see how he plays, and then give him a big long term contract if he is very productive. I had thought the Broncos would work out a long term deal with Von Miller first, and then franchise Osweiler, but for whatever reason that did not transpire.

Looks like the networks already lost their Bronco repeat story.

Going rate for a star QB: $20M per year.
Going rate for a mediocre QB: $20M per year.
No, I can't think of any reason why it makes sense either. Broncos probably dodged a bullet here by not getting locked in with this guy for the next 4-5 years. Osweiler is just OK.
Really any dumbass could succeed at QB with the defense they've assembled. Just don't fuck up too badly and you'll probably back into victory. We saw that for the second half of the season and the postseason. It's not as if Manning was great; he was just barely adequate. No reason to spend a sixth of your salary cap on that.
And in any case, the Broncos won. They took their big gamble on Manning and won. I don't think it's about repeating immediately for them, it's about keeping together a coherent enough team that you have a puncher's chance, and hoping for a few breaks to go your way.
