View Full Version : Things from the Bronco/Pats game that should make Steeler Nation feel good

1. The almighty Tom Brady had a very rough day. Ben's stats were much better.
2. The Steelers have a pretty good offensive line. Look what that Bronco defense did to the Patriots line today

Add the best offensive weapon in the NFL (Antonio Brown), and the Steelers win that game by 14.

Add Pouncey... and either D.Williams or Bell... and the Steelers win by 21.

It warms my heart to see Marsha walk off the field looking deflated.

And one of the best parts of the postseason is getting to dust off a great meme:

It makes me sad...

Next season, the offense will be STELLAR. If they can add two impact players on defense, I'm not joking when I say that 19-0 is plausible.

Only if we don't play sub .500 teams. Or Tomlin does take time this off season to figure out his strategy when playing sub .500 teams.

If you add Pouncey, Bell, and D.Williams, plus an uninjured BB, even Tomlin's penchant for losing to sub .500 teams would have no effect on the power of this offense.

Tomlin: Spot them 21 points.
Haley: Okay... so... win by only 14.

We were the only offense that took the Bronco's #1 defense to the "woodshed". And we did it twice. Once without Bell, once without Bell, D-Will & Brown. The Steelers gave away a very, very, very good chance at #7.

Barring something catastrophic, the Steelers are going to be back in the Super Bowl soon. They were severely undermanned and played the Broncos tough.

A Super Bowl appearance not happening in the next few years would be a disappointment for this team.

I was happy the Broncos won. Amazing how a missed extra point can cost ya!

And yes I think a healthier Steelers team would have beat Denver.

But I still am not sure how that wold have translated going forward?

Remember the Patriots historically have struggled in Denver.

And equally true the Steelers historically struggle with the Patriots, particularly in Gillete.

And even if we did beat the Pats, are we ready to face a more healthy and balanced team like the Panthers? I kind of have a feeling that we could have looked a like the Cardinals did yesterday had we advanced to play that team.

I'm not glad we lost last week, but I'm hoping the fact we did, and how we did makes our front office do what is necessary to get us over the top. It wont be easy, but it's not impossible either that with the right moves this offseason we will go into next season as the best team in the league.

The Bronco's got away with more PI yesterday as well. Do refs realize if you don't turn around to play the ball and even "bump" a guy it should be a flag?

I'm glad the Bronco's won because I hate everything about the Patriots but man that fumble from Toussaint is KILLING me now! I think we would have beat the Pats yesterday especially with AB back. The Pats looked lost yesterday.

Oh and another thing from yesterday's game ... we need to get a pass rush! Look at what Von Miller did to the outcome of that game yesterday. He looked like James Harrison from 2008. As bad as our secondary was this year if you get a guy like Von Miller making QB's throw the ball in a hurry without getting set, your secondary suddenly doesn't look so bad. I know people are saying we need to address the secondary (and we do) but if we don't fix our edge rushing ... a secondary full of Troy Polamalu's and Deion Sanders isn't going to help us against QB's that aren't pressured. I mean look at what Ben did to Denver's "great" secondary in our first meeting when he had time ...

And finally the Panthers are going to destroy Denver. Manning's rag arm ducks are going to kill them. And if Von Miller comes around the corner that fast at Cam Newton, Newton will make him miss and be 10 yards up the field before anyone can blink. Their offense is a whole different animal than what the Bronco's just beat in the stationary Brady/Roethlisthberger.

Hey guys, I found TeeTee!

It is inevitable. Every time Belichick does something that doesn't work out, there is some jackhole online, or writer, that attributes it to his "arrogance." STFU. He's just a coach who made some mistakes. He went for it on fourth down. How is that arrogance? Do you really think he was cocksure that they would get it? How was it arrogant to go for it on fourth down?

He rotated his offensive line early in the season, and the OLine ended up being weak. Well, obviously arrogance was the problem him thinking he could do a whole new type of OLine scheme. Or maybe, he wasn't sure what he wanted, and he was testing out lines until he found what worked. How the hell is it arrogant?

It has become a knee-jerk, thought-free, contentless conversation-stopping idiot flag. Just stop.

I played the 'what if' game a lot yesterday - - - and I enjoyed every minute of Bradys "deer in the headlights" look for most of the game.... But, I can't help but think that if we had played them yesterday with all of the 'advantages' that we know about at their home field, along with the other things that they have in place that we don't know about, it may have been a different story.... History piles up on us - - and the mindset going in would be a big hurdle to overcome.... The one truth that I know deep in my soul is that the AFC is not going to be represented by the best AFC team.... I do like Peyton and I wish that I could even entertain a smidgen of hope that his story will end well in two weeks, but he is going to be shredded in the SB...... And when I saw the results of both games yesterday, I saw a couple of things - - - the media and the NFL have already christened the new Messiah - - - and I do believe that Cam Newton's ego may be even bigger and more obnoxious than Tommy boys.... He is a beast, and his gigantic ego matches his body and his skills.... It might be his eventual downfall..... And the adage 'any given Sunday' was proven yesterday - - in both games....

I wondered as I watched the Pats struggle, just when did they arrive in Denver.... They seemed to be overly affected by the effects of the altitude... I know that we go in as late as possible, and it seems to be the way to go... Some folks on FB were bitching about our late arrival and that it resulted in errors... And I will also venture a guess that we can already place our last regular season game as an away game in Cincinnati - - that game did more to ensure our results in the playoffs as any other part of our season... A game early to destroy as many Steelers as possible and the last game to endure that we play in the playoffs wounded.... Oh, another thing - - which game did the commish go to yesterday - - I know his entourage had Bronco jerseys on last week - - - he must have had a real struggle with yesterdays matchup.... I had the game on, but if it isn't our game, I just listen and watch the replays...

I look forward to next season - - I think this one was ours, but alas, I can wait until next year.... I kind of like the 'decade' numbered SBs though....

Back in the day I would watch any football game. The NFL is not the same. Goodell is making the game worse as time passes.

The 70's, 80's and early 90's was good football. It was about team play. Today football is comprised mostly of spoiled brats(thugs too) wanting money and personal fame. It's a me-me attitude.

So now I only watch Steeler games.

he seemed to know what blocking was last year when you won the Super Bowl...

it's easy to put all of the blame on your OL coach when Brady gets put on his ass 20+ times in the Super Bowl, but it's not easy when all 3 interior line positions have rookie starters to start the season, your starting LT ends up on injured reserve and you end up having to use 13 different starting lineups for the offensive line during the season.

On why Brady got booed last night:

This is what happens when an elite few control the narrative. The officers of the NFL, members of its competition committees, and, by influence, most ex-players employed by the media, as well as the majority of sports media have anathematized the sport-addled public against one organization, one team, one coach and one player. In the 1930's the term for this creation was "untermensch", meaning sub-human, and was applied to Jews, Communists and Romanies (aka gypsies).

By creating the belief that members of the target group were less that human, it inferred that they lacked grace and vital character. In other words they were not to be trusted, and were by nature inveterate cheats, liars, thieves, and worse. They had no redeeming qualities, even when they exhibited exemplary human behaviors, as it was not possible for "untermensch" to comprehend such abstract qualities as honor, dignity, compassion and morality.

No matter what Brady and the rest of the organization do now or in the near future will change that opinion, as they are forever linked to the "untermensch" label. The only change can occur when the elite are exposed and removed, and the falsity of that narrative is made evident. Sadly that is not likely to happen any time soon.

I guess too many people have never learned the lessons of the middle of last century, or they deny any similarities. The digital age has only accelerated the power and reach of such disaffection. More worryingly it goes beyond sport into national and global politics. Consequently we must be active against any such objectifying dehumanization, as we are all too aware of the unfairness exhibited to the team we support.
