I like the move. I think the kid has tremendous upside.

Hopefully they can sign Boykin, but with the way Tomlin treated him I doubt he will remain.

Well obviously they fixed their problems at CB!

Good. At least he can function on some basic level. Now let's hope they don't go re-sign the wrong AB.

I like it. He showed signs of promise and he's got some decent size.

I am glad, he played fine and will get better. Lets hope Boykin stays and Blake doesnt. Keep Gay and our starting 3 CB's are there with Cockrell and Gay on the outside and Boykin in the slot. Then we can work on bringing in ppl to challenge them for their spots.

I think it will be a Gay Cockring on the outside and Senquistador in the slot.

I hope you're wrong. Because how does that improve us significantly? Unfortunately, that may be exactly what happens.

Frees up an early draft pick for a pass rusher.

And that would be bad IMO.

I hope I'm wrong too, but given the history of how they draft (unlucky recently) and their free agency signings, that's what I predict.

I'd like Boykin to come back but highly doubt that will be an option.

I don't know if a CB from the draft is going to make an impact his rookie year anyway. Maybe, but the odds are against it. That's why I'd like to see us sign at least a medium-level guy for our one FA move of the year. Basically Boykin but an outside corner. Then Golson as a slot guy isn't so bad.

Or who knows - maybe they really are going to use Golson outside. If he can actually do that, we're a shitload better off.

God, I wish. But I don't see any realistic scenario where Golson starts outside. The team basically said he was slot corner.

Nobody seems to know what the cornerback market will look like this year, but it sounds like medium-level guys might be getting premium dollars so it seems unlikely that we'd break the bank on a position that already isn't considered valuable by the organization.

I'm preparing to watch Blake and Cockrell Part II next season.

That would be annoying.

As long as they let Blake walk and bring back at least Gay (I'd love to have Boykin back, but that all depends on how he feels about how he was used this year), the secondary should be improved.

I would like a free agent at CB, just not a "project reject" from another team from the bottom of the barrel like Blake.

im really annoyed at having so many slot corners on the team. what good is it that William Gay didnt allow a TD all year long if guys like Blake are allowing everything to be caught on the outside?

Wow.... reading this thread there are people who actually think the secondary is no longer a concern with this signing.

Pretty sure they're joking, Pgh.

Our defensive coordinator, 1 year removed was of this opinion. I hope Butler does not share in this lunacy.

There's a problem if Tomlin and Butler don't see that this was an issue in 2015. It was clearly the weak link to a pretty decent defense. If they fail to address it in 2016, this team could wind up in the exact same place they are today.

While I don't think he is starting material, he does bring good depth for the position which we might be thin on come free agency time. I'm okay with the signing.

Coach speak. It's along the same lines as "we didn't make any halftime adjustments against the Broncos." Really, does anyone actually believe that?

I give up, where is that even remotely suggested besides your first post in the thread which was a pretty obvious attempt at sarcasm? :noidea:
