Of the 23 modern-era quarterbacks enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, only two have gone out as champions. Otto Graham of the Cleveland Browns won an NFL championship and retired after the 1955 season and John Elway of the Denver Broncos did the same after the 1998 season. For the 21 others, it was an assortment of sad or anticlimactic endings.
Colts legend Johnny Unitas played his final season for the San Diego Chargers in 1973. In his final NFL game, he relieved rookie Dan Fouts in a 19-0 loss and left the game after a shoulder injury. New York Jets icon Joe Namath, on damaged knees, finished his career with the Los Angeles Rams in 1977. He threw four interceptions in his final game against the Chicago Bears..........
