View Full Version : Some Tape on Todman and Toussaint

I'll fully admit it - I didn't believe Tomlin when he said we aren't worried about the running backs for this game. But, after watching the tape again, sans the excitement of the game itself, they really did look good. Sure, there were some missed opportunities, but all-in-all, for a 3rd and 4th string RB, what a performance.

Even if D. Williams can make it back in this week, it's going to be great to know we have a lot of relief in the bullpen to give him a breather.

I thought they both played extremely well!!! It was a pleasant surprise during that shit show. Todman looked really good...which leads me to the question: Why doesn't he return kicks?

With three of our top players questionable for next week's game, it's nice to know the RB position is pretty much covered. Wouldn't it be nice if we could say the same about the QB?

Hey! Give the guy a break. It was raining when Jones was on the field and not when Ben was. :heh:

Well, when Jones AND AJ were on the field, got to get that correct!

QB situation was covered until Gradkowski got hurt. QB's - even back-ups are so rare/valuable that from training camp forward it is going to be hard to find an upgrade.

But the situation needs to be a priority this off-season cycle.

Exactly. I think we've seen enough from Jones to send him packing. But, Grad should be back this year so I'm okay with the QB position otherwise. Depending on how much he costs, I wouldn't be upset with a reclamation project like RGIII at 3rd string QB.

As for RBs, i was pleasantly surprised at both the burst and the vision these two guys hand. Toussaint's ability to catch out of the backfield was literally the difference in our last drive. He had two catches, I think both of which went for first downs. I feel better at the depth of RB on this team than I ever have, including the seventies. I mean, based on a one game observation, we have quality guys 4 layers deep. I dare say, we're as deep at RB as we are at WR, maybe deeper seeing as you only usually field 1 rb at a time.

I'll admit after the first couple carries, as well as the end of the Cleveland game, I was not optimistic about Toussaint. But the performance from both backs really turned out to be worlds better than I had hoped. Really gave us a boost out of nowhere. Maybe it just took him a few series to figure out how things work. And Todman - I haven't seen a burst like that from a new guy in quite some time. We've got depth at that position and then some!

Todman is a UFA after this year.

Frenchy Toussaint is signed for 2016 and will be a RFA in 2017

Nix is an ERFA after this year.

W.Johnson is a UFA after this year.

And?

That's like saying the sky is blue, so I'm not sure the purpose of your post, unless you're doubting our line at this point.

Apparently Frenchy was the starter over Thomas Rawls (That beast RB on the seahawks) in Michigan. Guess we should have figured there was something to the guy

I think the Steelers were trying to hide these guys, but needed to break the emergency glass. Much better scenario than the days of Dwyer and Redman.

I liked them both going into the game and like them even more now. Fresh legs and hungry, I hope we can keep them both and save us from picking up a RB in the draft.

It means as long the O-line opens holes the RBs will do well. The O-line makes the running game happen. Many fans think it starts and end with the RB.
