There is no way that T.O. deserves to be in the hall. Football is the ultimate team sport and Owens was one of the most selfish pieces of shit of all time.

Agreed. It'll be complete BS if he gets in, especially this go around.

T.O. was an asshole. He was also one of the best WRs ever. He was pretty bad ass on field...and in driveways. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame IMO.

I'm not denying he was a good player, but in my personal opinion, he was TOO much of a selfish asshole. As I said though, that's just my personal opinion.

No doubt that's what he was...I just go based on performance on field though...unless there's something outrageous...

Owens being an ass has nothing to do with whether or not he should get in the HoF.

He's #2 all-time in receiving yardage and #3 all-time in receiving TDs. His career numbers should get him in the HoF on the first ballot.

Being a jerk? No.

Being a jerk to the extent that he became a major liability to every team that employed him? Should definitely count against him.

T.O has the numbers, but he's too much of a jackhole to the point where he became a total liability everywhere he went. He was so damn good, that's why he was unloaded by so many teams, even losing teams like the Bengals and Bills. He didn't care about the team, it was all about himself.

It wouldn't have been so bad if T.O was an a-hole for the benefit of the team, but he wasn't.

He burned all the bridges he came across. Screw him.

:chuckle:

On a serious note, I don't see how you can keep him out with his numbers and the fact that he never really got into any serious off-field trouble, considering that OJ and LT are still in there...

He'll get in. Just not right away. They will make him wait. Also, he's got no jewelry so he will definitely wait.

Yeah you can't deny his numbers but, he was a first class jackwagon. He will get into the HOF and, I could not stand him.

HOF voters are to look at on-the-field stuff only - stats, pro bowls, all pro, conference championship games, Super Bowls, Super Bowl wins (which he has none of, but normally that hurts QB's more than anyone else).

As a receiver, he's one of the best ever. As a teammate, one of the worst ever. But he also never got into any legal hot water - no DUI's, no drugs, no hookers (the kind of stuff that kept Michael Irving out of the Hall for a while).

If they have to choose one receiver to put in this class, the ring could be what keeps him out. Marvin Harrison has one, and if they ignore the off-the-field gun thing (where nothing's actually been proven to my knowledge) that could be what keeps him out this year and puts Harrison in first ballot. Also, they may decide they want to put Harrison and Dungy in the same year, if so that could help push Owens out of this year.
