Denver never gave up a 300 yard passer and 30 points on defense before tonight.

They gave up all of those tonight.

The Steelers have scored 30 points or more in the last 6 games.....3 of its games were against a top 5 defense(Seattle,Bengals and Denver)

And they scored 2 TDs against Harris, hasn't given up a TD in 2 years.

Still can't get over the difference in the 2 halves.

Unbelievable - AND, this offense wasn't hitting on all cylinders tonight. Obviously, part of that goes to the great Denver defense, and they were very good. But part of that was simply the offense not getting it done in the first half. The scariest thing is that Pittsburgh left 8 points on the field, which would have put them in the 40s against Denver.

Like I said, unbelievable.

As long as the o line can hold up the pass rush, there isn't a secondary in the league that can stop the Steelers wideouts.

That was the toughest defense they will face until the possibly Super Bowl if they make it that far. Probably the toughest this year overall. They would scare me if they have to play that game in Denver.

Everything was so contested in the first half, I thought the offense did good to score 13. It's amazing what this offense can do once they find their rhythm!

The good news is this is very unlikely we play in Denver to start the playoffs

If Denver lose another game, they will be in the wild card or out in the playoffs if the Chiefs win the last two games....If the Broncos win their last two games, they will be in the second seed

Ben's gonna get crucified for that boneheaded late pick but he played a hell of a game no doubt. The offense was far from perfect tonight but they stuck with it and it paid off with a complete team turnaround.

We don't win without Ben. Yea, it was a boneheaded play but I'll forgive him for it.

Only idiots will crucify him for it. I thought it was a very stupid play, as we all did. It's what I was talking about in the efficiency thread - sometimes he just pushes too much and thinks he can do too much. But, it'd be pretty ignorant to crucify him for that INT and forget that he led this team from three scores down in the second half to a win, and then closed out the game with an out-route throw and looked eerily familiar to the one picked off (same type of throw, rather than same coverage), and nailed it. It's why he made the almost goat list tonight (that plus his other INT plus a couple bad throws) but also made the Gameball list for overall performance.

Ben throws into more tight windows than any qb in the league. Yeah we got great receivers, but Ben throws them open quite often. And when you throw into that many tight windows sometimes you'll throw picks. Anyway you take that away from him and he's not nearly as special.

Ben didn't throw bombs all day, he got 1st downs. 55 attempts.

Remember when all his critics said he couldn't win if he threw that many time?

He is an overall great QB and yeah, he's a gunslinger. His career TD to INT ratio is still pretty damn good.

yup. more efficient and GREAT gameplanning against the opponent we were facing. 51.3% of the yards allowed by the denver defense coming into the games were YAC, and clearly the coaching staff paid attention and let the receivers do the work

Credit goes to both Todd and Ben.

Credit goes to Todd for creating effective game plans are that beating defenses and credit goes to Ben for great execution in so many ways like perfect timing on his passes, reading defenses and seeing what they're giving him, and extending plays just to give a few examples.

Pretty darn impressive and, you could see after the bad pick it was killing Ben. I forgive and, the defense held on for the save no harm.

That's where it all starts at the beginning of the day. The trenches.

By the way, I believe we've already mentioned why the Steelers must hold onto Mike Munchak and give him the keys to the city, give him millions whatever. It's imperative that he stays here.

i gotta give credit for the boldness in continuing to throw on 3rd down the following drive. normally that would be a huge risk as far as time was concerned, but Antonio was just unstoppable that it wasnt a bad decision.

seriously, it wasnt just the fact that antonio could get open on this defense so many times that was impressive, it was HOW open he got. it was so weird seeing Roby/Harris 5 yards away from him half the time he made a catch, but then again, it is AB

But AB was making catches when he was blanketed by two guys as well.

Game plan from here on out should be just get AB the ball...lol.

Wheaton is starting to make some tough catches. Martavis had drops but he still fought for some yards that helped. They should let the Outlaw get in there but I know they needed Heath and Spaeth to help block yesrerday

Wheaton has been making tough catches all year, he might be our most physical receiver, I'm really impressed by him. Bryant still dropped a few, but you are right, he fought hard on the catches he DID make.

That one pass that Ben threw right to Bryant and the defender could have easily been an INT if Bryant doesn't fight for that ball with urgency. He caught it, fought for it, and won.

All of our receivers stepped up to the challenge and played way more physical than they have the last few weeks, against arguably the most physical defense in the league. Well done, boys.

When the ball was thrown to him. Before the Seasquawks game, he was a forgotten man.

I'm happy that te defense didn't lose there head after the blown assignment on sanders . Things could of gone south quickly but they didn't back off and kept the pressure on Brock. Had a few dropped ints but all in all I'm not mad at this defense . Broncos are a Super Bowl caliber team with the best defense in the NFL. Huge confidence booster for our locker room!

great win gents

I liked what I saw from Wheaton also, he made some tough clutch catches in the last few games. I can hardly wait for a healthy team starting next season . . . Ben was reminding me of a Rodgers performance in the second half. He was accurate and precise like Rodgers is. It has been an impressive year with this offense and if this defense can play like they did in the second half most of the rest of the season (playoffs included) then we will go far.

Wheaton has been a solid 3 and has been showing signs of brilliance. Some of those catches he was making were great. The ball would just stick to his hands and they weren't easy.

Did Ben ever go deep yesterday? I can't seem to remember many deep balls, but more passes of maybe 25 - 30 yards or so max, with the majority being 5-15 yards or so. Haley and Ben got a little more conservative and were smarter with the ball, not forcing it deep against those highly skilled ballhawks on the Broncos.

Psycho Ward 86
12-21-2015, 03:57 PM
Since when are passes of 25-30 yards not deep passes? Ive been waiting for us to pass the ball a little bit more like this for a while.

But noooo some people think we NEED to average 36.8 yards down field on passes of 20+ yards because our receivers can take the top off the defense.

Well yeah, but our receivers are also arguably the best YAC crew in the entire league so lets let them do their part as well. We would have lost if we tested this defense the same way we tested everybody else. Ben's picks werent targeted towards receivers that were very far downfield, mind you folks

My judgement is probably way off, how far was the pass that Nelson intercepted in the last Bengals game? When I say "deep" I mean whenever Ben really pulls back and floats it way downfield, I would have guessed that's more like 40 yards, am I way off?

looked at the clip, the ball traveled 43 yards past the line of scrimmage (ball traveled 48ish yards downfield from where Ben was standing to be more specific)

The numbers this offense is racking up despite the injuries is downright scary, imagine if there were few injuries this year and no suspensions . . . this off is opposite of the 2008 defense. Last year it was back to back 6 TD games, this year its 40 completions in 2 games.

polamalubeast

Roethlisberger 336 yards per game this year, which is the 3rd highest total in NFL history.

Even if Ben has played four games less and 100 Pass Attempts less, Roethlisberger has 10 yards fewer than Aaron Rodgers this year!

We'd be going for 19-0 if we had the 2008 D to go with this offense. I remember vividly watching games during the 2008 season where the crowd in Heinz would go quiet enough to hear a pin drop when the offense was on the field, but as soon as it was the defense's turn to go on, they'd get a LOT louder.

The thing that is impressive for this offense is that this offense has play against the toughest schedule in the NFL.
