Even though it’s the bye week, teams can still have players poached off of their practice squads. With that said, it’s likely that a team recently tried to poach Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive lineman B.J. Finney away as the former undrafted free agent out of Kansas State was recently given a substantial raise.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, Finney is now making $25,588 a week, which is essentially the same pay he would get if he were on the Steelers active roster. Prior to being given the raise, Finney was earning $6,600 a week.

The latest practice squadder to earn a sizable raise is Steelers OL BJ Finney. Now making $25,588/week, essentially the active roster rate.

Finney played quite extensively for the Steelers at guard during the preseason but he suffered an ankle injury late in the team’s final preseason game. After being waived during the final round of roster cuts prior to the start of the season, Finney was eventually signed to the Steelers practice squad several weeks later and presumably after he had enough time to rehabilitate his ankle.
This is a good sign that the Steelers like Finney’s potential and it won’t be surprising to see him on the 53-man roster later on in the season. The young offensive lineman will forever be remembered for this video (http://www.steelersdepot.com/2015/05/video-steelers-udfa-b-j-finney-gets-emotional-announcing-his-signing/) that was shot after he agreed to sign with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent.

I'd even go so far as to run a couple to the 12 yard line and take the hit...
