View Full Version : NFL will factor color blindness into future “Color Rush” games

Last night’s game between the Bills and Jets featured the first Nikefied “Color Rush” matchup. The All Red versus All Green uniforms created a problem for folks watching at home whose rods and cones aren’t configured to allow for red and green to be distinguished.

The NFL now says it plans to factor potential colorblindness into next year’s “Color Rush” promotion, if there is one.

“The Color Rush jerseys are a test for four games this season, the first of which was last night,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT by email. “We did test the jerseys this summer on field and on television. The standard television test did not account for color blindness for fans at home that became apparent last night. We will enhance our testing to include a color blindness analysis to better address this issue in the future.”

The next three “Color Rush” games will include Week 11 (Titans-Jaguars), Week 12 (Panthers-Cowboys), and Week 15 (Buccaneers-Rams). And since it’s a “test” for this year, there’s no guarantee that the “Color Rush” will be back in 2016.

It's a f-ing terrible promotion. The Nike uniforms are horrendous...I'm glad to see this backfired on the NFL.

They should play that game in London and make it only available online at 6am EST.

Hell I am not color blind, but I did see the uni's last night and it did cause temporary blindness and vomiting. Those were eye sores and the only thing they were lacking to make it a complete debacle was a blue field.

It's really a dumb idea. I mean who are you trying to appeal to? The only people watching that game, b/c it is on NFL Network to start with, are Bills fans, Jets fans and football purists...that probably makes up 98% of the viewing demographic. I don't know that for a fact, but I think it's a good guess given the circumstances. Nobody wants to see some trash called "color rush". Don't these idiots do any kind of research?

Since government isn't doing anything...why don't they make a law against "color rush" and make every team use a traditional uniform. Fuck Nike and their "Oregon bullshit." It's terrible...it makes a joke of the league.

Can't wait to see what kind of shit the Buccaneers spew for their color rush game...ugh...and to put the Cowboys into that mix...that's one of the most iconic uniforms in sports, you're going to color rush that...like '76 said...MO. RON.

Just shows what contempt that the NFL has for the real game. It's all about glitz and show, the product on the field is insignificant to this regime.

The only day that game would make a little sense is on Christmas day. That is all I could think about as I watched Santa's elves try to play football.

Teams still have red and green jerseys. Would this have been brought up if it wasn't a promoted "color rush"?

I guess most of the time in games one team at least wears a white uniform.

If they wanted all color unis why didn't they just use the Bills blue unis oh yeah that would have made too much sense

What teams are involved in it? Too bad the Steelers/Raiders game wasn't one of them. Two teams all in black would have been awesome!:chuckle:

The Jets logos and facemasks on the helmets were metallic colored.

I already wondered why the Bills and Jets wore such horrible uniforms. I just thought... hey, those are two historically bad franchises, who knows what these guys are doing. The Browns also have a really bad uniform.

On the other hand, I still think our bumblebee uniforms are awesome.

I actually like the color rush uniforms. The mustard & ketchup matchup between the Rams and Bucs was, interesting.

An all black Steelers uniform would be sick, but I'm totally expecting it to be all gold.

They'll probably give the Ravens the "all black" uniform... you know: due to their rich history. :jerkit:

If anyone should get the "all black" uniforms, it honestly should be the Raidahs.

Lastly, I actually like the "all yellow" look of the Steelers uniforms better (than the "all black" uniforms). Add in a yellow helmet, and I'm sold.

Color Rush was such an eyesore. TNF already sucks enough ass with that bumbling know-nothing bozo Phil Simms who still has a job because I don't know why
