Why is it that I feel this way? Because of Ben. No it's not the fact that Ben is in his later years, but because everyone needs to see just as we do, that Ben is a 1st Ballat HOF QB. Year after year we have to hear about Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees and now even Luck being better than Ben.

Some may say Ben doesn't have the numbers the others do. Well firstly, Bens first 2 seasons under Whisenhunt he was handicapped. He was only getting 17 to 22 attempts a game under an offense built on the running game, play action and gadget plays. The other QB's were running wide open offenses. Does anyone think Whisenhunt would have done the other QB's any different in their first 2 years? Also, Brady was moved along slowly when he started his first year after Bledsoe's injury.

Some say he holds onto the ball too long! Well under Arians although he opened up the offense, it was unrealistic. The offensive lines under Arians were historically bad. He ran an offense with deep throws that take more time to develop. It also was built around bubble screens which the offensive line was not good at executing. Ben had to hold onto the ball more times than not to make something out of nothing because of the constant jailbreak through the line.

The line was ignored under Ben because of his ability to extend the play and his size. This is the reason that Ben has been more oft injured under Arians. The other top QB's would not have lasted under these circumstances. Despite the 2 different philosophies at coordinator, Ben was still able to win 2 Superbowls and 3 appearances under them. It also doesn't help that the Refs don't give Ben the calls and protection that the other QB's get because of his size. This adds to him being oft injured.

Now I hear that Ben has not won a playoff game since 2010. Well first, looking at the divisions that the other QB's play in, the AFC North is not only more physical, but also much more highly contested than theirs. All of this with Ben never having a losing season. You also have to look at the health of Ben through those years in comparison to the other QB's. Also the Steelers in general have been banged up over those years.

In 2011, they were banged up going into the Denver playoff game. They also were banged up in 2012 and 2013. Last year was the healthiest season they have had since then. Bell goes out in the final game of the season forcing them to sign an unprepared Tate, that contributed to the playoff loss after winning 4 straight.

I need not speak of how bad this year has been with players out. It has been more than any team in the league. The only teams that come close are the Cowboys and Colts and they have losing records. If we can hold on and get #7 this year, Ben would have done it under greater circumstances than any of them.

He would not only have 4 appearances, but 3 Superbowls. That would only put him behind Bradshaw, Montana and Brady and tie him with Aikman. Then noone would be able to deny he is a first ballat HOF'er!

2015 is a pipe dream while 2016 is more realistic.
