Unfortunately, wether we like it or not.

Ben was not only carted off the field, he was taken out of the stadium. Same leg, only it's his foot this time.

Just the damn luck of this team this year.

Aldon Smith joins Mark Barron on the ****list this year.

Just hoping for 8-8 at this point. Really blows, because the AFC as a whole really sucks shit this year.

The whole league stinks. The NFC is just as bad. Very top heavy. Four undefeated teams, then a bunch of mediocrity. I'm sure Goodell loves it, as almost no one is out of it at this point.

I don't want 8-8. We won't make the playoffs with that record. I'd rather just say screw the season, play a bunch of young guys and get a better draft position.

I HATE 8-8. I'm not saying tank on purpose like the Colts did, but just get the young guys more experience so that they're ready for next year. We get NOTHING out of 8-8.

If Jones gets help from the offense and defense I think he'll be ok. Atleast he has an arm.

I can't even go that far. While Barron's play wasn't dirty, it was illegal, IMO. Smith's play was neither, just a freak accident.

However, I think you might be right. With Ben's age, I'm very tempted to simply say make him sit. Let him heal and get ready for the last couple-three years of his career, and let Landry Jones take the reigns the rest of the year. Jones has shown enough that he can do it without tanking the season. I don't think we'd get very far in the playoffs if we made it, but I'd rather let Ben heal for the beginning of the next season.

The man's got a cannon, and actually might need to scale that thing back a bit. But, what really eases my fears is how comfortable he looks while not being a liability, and should only improve from here on out.

No, Ben's foot was in the worst possible position. Nothing dirty about what Aldon did, just bringing him down

Wishful thinking, I'm afraid. Just be prepared for more of this on offense:

Jones has proven he's good enough to be a backup. I don't think he's the future of the franchise by any means, but I think he can make enough plays to give us a chance. (Again, hardly believing I'm typing that.)

Would we win a game like today's, where the defense gives up 35 points? Absolutely not. But he's looked OK, which is as good as you can ask for and a hell of a lot better than Vick.

Ready or not, it looks like he's going to be the QB for the next 3 or 4 games at least. My biggest worry is that we go into the turtle offense again and limit ourselves to about 13 points a game. Remember that 3rd-and-21 late in the fourth quarter? I turned to my wife and said "Watch, this is going to be a bubble screen to the receiver at the top." Sure enough, that's what Haley called, except it was SO obvious he couldn't actually throw it and spiked it at Williams' feet instead. If that's the playcalling with Jones in, forget the playoffs.

Second-biggest worry is an injury to Williams. With Ben and Bell both out, that guy just became the new most-important player on the team. If we want to have any chance of running a legitimate offense, WIlliams has to come up big.

Just when he was really starting to look like he was getting the rust finally shaken off. Frustrating as hell.

We can win with Jones as long as the coaching staff doesn't handcuff him again.

Sitting Ben for the rest of the season won't change anything. He'll be injured again because unfortunately that's the direct consequence of his style and his age. What he could do 4 and 5 years ago, he can't do it anymore and being carted off the field week in and week out is not good for him and detrimental to the whole team too.

Week in and week out? Ben hasn't missed a game since 2012 before his knee injury a few games ago.

You're right but being carted off the field twice in 3 games is way more than the team can take at this point.

Have you watched Ben play the last few years? Or for that matter, the actual injuries he's sustained this year? Both had nothing to do with his age or style of play.

There was a GIF on Twitter, I'll see if I can find it. It was beautiful. I could watch it all day long.

Ben is 33, not 50. He has a ways to go before the osteoporosis sets in. He doesn't sit in the pocket nearly as much as he used to, this is nothing to be concerned about.

The Steelers should make Tyler Murphy the starter. Landry Jones is winless as a starter and undefeated as a reliever.

Let it begin. It's Landry's team now. Give them a heavy dose of Williams, run picks and rubs like the Patriots do illegally, and throw in high percentage passes and play action we'll be fine. Maybe challenge for a wildcard...
As for Ben, it might be best to shut it down for the year. This team needs to learn to move away from Ben sooner or later and with his fragility and beaten body, it's best they make it sooner. I'm behind Jones a 1000% and look forward to what this kid can do. I'm willing to live with the mistakes, just give him a chance.

If Haley and Tomlin actually let Jones play like he's been in the offense for three years. We may have a chance of fielding a decent offense with Landry.

If we see more of the same turtleball crap in Kansas City, 7-9 here we come.

Looks like the Landry era will be short lived. Rappaport on NFL network said that it wasn't too severe and we're looking at 2 weeks. So they'll play the Browns, have the bye and then with luck, get Ben back. Not too bad. They'll contend for the wildcard for sure.
