We need our media to grow a set of stones. They don't ask Tomlin, or follow up questions, that beg to be asked.
The Steelers have a long tradition of muscling the media to only report things that the Rooneys approve of. If not, the media risks losing perks.
That is some Micky Mouse shit.
For instance, why doesn't a reporter ask and follow up with this?
Why doesn't Boykin get any playing time?
(assumed dodge response from Cool Shades) "We put the best players on the field who give us the best chance to win."
But, you traded a draft pick for him, and he has a history of better play than most of the guys who get more playing time. What happened to make him not get much playing time at all? Obviously, you traded draft picks away because you thought he was a good player.
CS: (more dodge BS) "We are playing the players who we feel give us the best chance to win."
But what specifically has Boykin done to give you an indication that he wouldn't be better than those who are playing before him? What has he done wrong? We haven't seen him play enough to indicate he is worse than who is playing. What did he do to indicate he would offer worse production than the other guys getting playing time?
CS: "It's something you have to look at in totality. You have to factor everything in, such as how well each knows the system, how well they do in practice - you consider all of it."
So what specifically has Boykin shown that causes him to not get any playing time?
CS: Next question.
-[end faux interview]-
Not that they would get any where even if they tried, but Jebus Christmas, at least freaking try. Do you think the NY media would give Cool Shades a pass like he gets in Pgh?
But like I said: There is a long standing posture of the media being controlled by the Rooneys. This is nothing new, but I find it to be on such a hick town status.
