In taking Ryan Shazier with the 15th pick of last year's draft, the Steelers projected they were getting a productive, speedy and dynamic playmaker.
And that is exactly what they've gotten.
Half the time.
Shazier, the former Ohio State standout inside linebacker with sub-4.4 speed, has played in 11 of the Steelers' 22 regular-season games since he joined the team. He has missed the other half because of three separate injuries.
The most recent of which, a right shoulder ailment, has had Shazier on the sidelines since Sept. 20.
There's strong reason to believe that will change in time for Sunday's game in Kansas City.
“He's ready to go out there and play,” fellow starting inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons said after practice Thursday. “I'm just excited for him to see him go out there and ball out.”
Shazier has been a full participant in practice for both sessions this week and said he is “feeling good. ...
