The Ones Who Hit the Hardest: The Steelers, the Cowboys, the 70s, and the Battle for America's Soul (http://www.amazon.com/Ones-Who-Hit-Hardest-Steelers/dp/1592405762)

The book came out on 9/2; I had it pre-ordered and downloaded to my Kindle. I had to finish another book first (Resurrection: The Miracle Season the Saved Notre Dame (http://www.amazon.com/Resurrection-Miracle-Season-Saved-Notre/dp/B003STCQL6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1283611664&sr=8-1), about Parseghian and the 1964 season)... and then I was up until 2AM reading this before I faded.

There was an excerpt posted from this a couple days ago, titled "How Chuck Noll Saved The Steelers" (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/forums/showthread.php/2371-How-Chuck-Noll-saved-the-Steelers). This book is everything that you read in that excerpt and 1000% more. This is the Pittsburgh version of When Pride Still Mattered (http://www.amazon.com/When-Pride-Still-Mattered-Lombardi/dp/0684870185/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1283611754&sr=1-1). I'm in chapter 6 and I've probably gotten choked up 5 times already. I'm in my mid-50s. I remember the drafting of Joe Greene, and the "Joe Who" headlines. I remember the Buddy Parker years, and Kent Nix; Bill Nelsen was an usher at our church, St Thomas a Becket in Gill Hall. Steelers fans: you HAVE TO read this book. I guarantee you will be knocked over by the end of the prologue. And you will have to read it straight through. I'm at work today, I downloaded the Kindle app to my work computer and I'm reading it every spare moment. I can't stop.

I hadn't seen your thread; I looked for one, but not hard enough. You will LOVE it. Like I said, I'm sneaking pages at work today. It's that good.

Stayed up late again last night to finish it. A must have for all Steelers readers. Forget about any great sociological conclusions, there aren't any; the Steelers kick the Cowboys' asses in Super Bowl XIII, and the book ends, goodnight. I'll take that.
