Ben Roethlisberger and Bruce Arians remain close nearly 3˝ seasons after Steelers management forced Arians out as offensive coordinator. Roethlisberger says they text or talk every week. Arians says Roethlisberger is “like a son to me.” That’s why a big part of Arians wishes Roethlisberger were playing today against his Arizona Cardinals. “But as a coach? No way,” Arians said. “ ‘Don’t try to be a hero. Wait another week.’ ”

Arians was watching in his office when Roethlisberger went down with a knee injury Sept. 27 in the game against the St. Louis Rams. “I almost threw up,” Arians said. “I mean, I got sick. He was playing so well. I know how much he put into it. Running the offense and being the leader, he takes great pride in that. He knows the offense and knows the game so well. It didn’t surprise me that he drew up the touchdown pass on the sideline the other night.”............

I think Arians has obviously proved himself to be an excellent head coach. That doesn't mean he was a great OC here in Pittsburgh. It was time to move on at that point. Here, it seemed Arians was on a different page than everyone else. Here, if the offense was just inside field goal range on 1st down, that usually meant by 4th down they had to punt.

I wish him nothing but success with the Cardinals. May he fail every time his Cardinals plays the Steelers.

This game has a few interesting subplots since Super Bowl 43...Arians vs. Haley on opposite teams this time around. Harrison and Haley on the same team this time. LaMarr Woodley on the opposite sideline after sealing the Super Bowl victory for the Steelers. Also aside Arians ar former players Brenston Buckne, Levon Kirkland, Larry Foote. Then there is: Tom Moore, Larry Zierlein, Harold Goodwin, Tom Pratt, Amos Jones. There's a reason they call them Pittsburgh West.

More "former Steelers" than the Steelers have?

Bruce Airhead showed today why he was let go in Pittsburgh.

Over 300+ yards of offense, dominate the Steelers in yardage in the first half, but 13 total points for the Cardinals.

He's terrible...I'm glad he's long gone.

Coach of the year, baby! The Steelers surely regretted letting him go. Rooney orchestrated his departure and Art doesn't know the first thing about football.

He was done. Fork stuck and all in Pittsburgh. Now we know why. Sucks to play a real team. Even with all our injuries. AND Carson Palmer? Give me a break.

I still think Carson Palmer is playing good ball. If we didn't have Ben and were stick with Palmer, I don't think It'd be terrible.

Nah. I would never want Palmer. Just doesn't strike me as a winner.

I wouldn't run out to pick him, but if we were stuck with him...there's worse or there. I'd rather have him than say a Jay Cutler...

Given that choice, yeah no brainer, Cutler is a psyche ward.

The Cardinals are 4-2 and the four wins are against teams with losing records. Those teams are the Saints, 49ers, Bears and Lions. Those teams have a combined 7-17 record.
