The Pittsburgh Steelers have up until now been fortunate to have all of their pass rushers healthy and able to log a healthy number of snaps through the first game of the season. James Harrison recently was listed as probable with a thumb injury, but that has been about it. This week, the Steelers are listing Jarvis Jones as questionable. Should he be unable to go, that roster spot will likely be given to…

Hmmm, I called this course of action 2 weeks ago. Jones would get an injury and not able to play and Chick would fill in the rotation. If my thinking follows through, we may have seen the last of JJ.

Of course, Chick has to perform now.

Indeed, you did.

I'll do you one better: I have averred for three months that the starting OLB tandem for 2016 (and on) will be Chickillo & Dupree.

I've been pulling for this dude since pre season, I was stoked when he was first put onto the 53 man roster. I really hope he gets his chance to show what he has, because JJ has pushed my patience out the window with his lack of strength and poor play.

I was very happy when they picked Chickillo, even when most, if not all, the EXPERT talking heads declared that he was a DE not a LBer and would never make it in the NFL. I think we will see a total effort out of Chickillo, I don't think he knows anything else.

It's rare that these late-round DE/OLB conversion project guys work out for us, but it looks like this could finally be it. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in an actual game situation.

I'm not holding my breath...but his work ethic seems better than JJones.

Even if Jones is inactive I doubt they play Chickillo at all.

If for some reason Tomlin allows him to play I hope he tears it up. Let's say he reels in 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF and a number of pressures. What does Tomlin do when Jones returns? I think Tomlin will send Chickillo back to the inactive list to rot while Jones flounders around aimlessly.

I don't think you need to "think that". It's pretty much the "standard".

I don't think that happens in this case. I think the JJones experiment is coming to an end. Chick has an opportunity and he has to perform. If he lights it up, we may never see JJ again. If Chick doesn't perform, then they will have to work something out with JJ.

What does Jones have left? 1 year at something like $2.8M cap charge even if they cut him? I think he at the very least sees out the contract...I don't think they gain anything if they cut him early...

This kid needs to play. There's no point in just continuing to put Jarvis out there with very little production when you've got another option.

And of course Chickillo doesn't see the field.

Should I play the race card to stir things up? Haha ; )
