View Full Version : Antonio Brown Not Happy With His Role While Vick is at QB, but he understands it

Antonio Brown whipped a pass into multiple coverage, and his receiver made a play for him. Mike Vick leapt high, caught the pass, ran into the end zone and spiked it as Steelers teammates roared approval.
It all happened at the end of practice Wednesday, and multiple players commented on it, including Brown, who told Vick that the reverse of that combination is what should happen in games: Vick to Brown, touchdown!
“I told him that’s how you throw the ball,” said Brown, smiling broadly. “He went up and made a good play. That was exciting. I kidded him about it. It’s all fun when you’re winning.”
Brown said he enjoyed the 24-20 victory Monday night in San Diego, too, although, for the second consecutive game, he caught fewer than five passes for fewer than 50 yards. He even played the decoy on Markus Wheaton’s 72-yard touchdown catch from Vick.
But Brown also made his point for the second week in a row — throw him the ball.
“I didn’t think I got the ball enough, but I always got to stay positive,” Brown said. “Obviously, my guy at quarterback, Mike Vick out there is playing conservative, to make sure we get the win. He’s not going to take too many shots or shots extra. He’s going to stick to the script and do the best he can ...
“As long as we keep winning, that’s all it’s about. But it’s evident I do need the ball.’’

AB realizing life ain't so sweet without an elite quarterback and Todd Haley as your coordinator.

The problem is Brown is a better passer than Vick.
I really hope Vick is not on the team next season.

Fixed.
Vick has always been an undersized RB pretending to be a QB and now he really can't even run much anymore.
And if Brown really "understood it," he'd have never complained about it to begin with. He needs to realize that we have a guy under center at the moment who risks a pick-six every time he throws it further than 5 yards beyond the LOS and that the play calling has had to be adjusted to reflect that reality. And then he needs to zip it.

He's just pissed his beloved "streak" came to an end. :chuckle:
Love AB, but personally I'm glad this is happening to him. I know he's a hell of a hard worker, but I felt like he was/is getting a bit of a diva ego. Maybe this will make him appreciate Ben and the situation he's in.

Wonder what happens this week if AB doesn't get the ball enough...especially after Haley came out and said that AB has gotten the ball enough.

The crazy thing is, without Ben even for 2 and a half games AB is still tops in the league as far as statistics go. To me, that is amazing and a true indicator of his production.

He's third for the moment begging Jones and Hopkins...that's pretty impressive. What's more impressive is Hopkins is up there with that garbage in Houston throwing to him...

SEEKING COMFORT: Wide receiver Antonio Brown was targeted eight times and caught three passes for 24 yards against the Cardinals.
That makes 11 catches for 111 yards in the last three games for Brown _ 26 fewer yards than fellow wide receiver Martavis Bryant had on his six catches against Arizona (6-137-2 TDs).
“He realizes he’s seen everything he’s going to see in professional football from an individual-accolades standpoint,” Tomlin said of Brown. “He’s got to get a ring. That’s what he and I have been talking about through some of this. It’s uncomfortable for him, no doubt. He’s got a great rapport with Ben Roethlisberger, Ben’s not playing. What do we have to do to win the game?
“When you’re hunting what (Brown) is hunting, his career will be defined by how many Lombardis he’s contributed to our stash.”

Nailed it and Tomlin reinforces it by saying his quality of play will be determined by how many Lombardi trophies he helps to add to the Steelers collection.
