Who would be on Your Mt. Rushmore? I've been a fan since mid 80's so no 70's Steelers will make it. This is my personal Mt. Rushmore.

1. Woodson
2. Ward
3. Bettis
4. Big Ben

Are you telling us not to list players from the '70's or was that just you?

Just me. I never saw those guys play, I became a fan in the 80's after the glory days of the 70's. By all means if your mt rushmore includes Greene, or Lambert or so on list them if thats your Mt. Rushmore.

I can't even pick 4. I'm just surprised not to see a Polamalu on anyone's mountain here.

By picking four, you have to leave out so many. But I believe that without these four, we might not have any rings.

Welp, we may just have to find another mountainside to carve the faces of The Chief, Dan Rooney, Chuck Noll, and Dick Lebeau. :hail:

Hines included non players, which you can't argue.

1) Joe Greene
2) Terry Bradshaw
3) Jack Ham
4) Franco Harris

If I were to make a post-1985 list, it would be the following:

1) Ben Roethlisberger
2) Jerome Bettis
3) Hines Ward
4) Troy Polamalu

It was hard to leave off Rod Woodson, but since he spent a fair amount of his career elsewhere I left him out.

Wouldn't it be cool to have an actual Pittsburgh sports Mt. Rushmore on Mt. Washington?

Clemente, the Chief, Mario, and ... ?

Something is wrong with my computer. I type Greene and it came out Art Rooney. I tried Lambert, and it still came out Art Rooney, Bradshaw and ,,,,, still Art Rooney. So I will have to disqualify myself from this thread.

I can not even get my Linebackers list down to 4 let alone all the players

best of luck to the rest of you

On the most recent Freakanomics podcast they talked about Clemente. Bob smiczic was on and said that Clemente was sort of a prick. I would replace Clemente with Stargill

I had Joe Greene as my number one, after that it was Bradshaw, Lambert, Franco, and Ham, and you really could have placed those four in any order. But I had to leave someone out to make four and it was Ham. But it could just as well have been any combination of the others with Joe Greene of course being the constant.

That would be the bad thing about a ring of honor, like Dallas has. We would either have to put the names up in small print, or completely fill the stadium with placards. I guess it will have to do to simply say,,,, they were Steelers. ( It would be hard for me to leave Blount out as well.)

Gotta agree with Dwinsgames..... I tried to decide on 2 defense and 2 offense, of course I typed my man Lambert in and then Mean Joe, but then there are so many other great defense player's that can't be left out. Offense you have to go with Ward and of course Ben, but then again, if you back track in year's there are just too many to not mention as important player's that gave us the rings. You can't go with all defense or all offense player's because that wouldn't make any sense. This is just too hard and mind blowing to try to narrow a great team to 4 player's ! So, as Dwinsgames did, I'm backing off and getting a drink ! Good luck to all.

this would be tough to do if the criteria was even stricter than it is ....

Try it by making the rules No Coaches , No Ownership , No HOF players and for me it is still impossible LOL

The question was. Who would we pick? For many of us, particularly the old members, that just a question we can not answer.

I have mixed feelings about Franco. But Mean Joe said we never won anything until we got Franco. I didn't watch his first 3 years so I don't know. He was very consistent in the 70s

The thing is back in the day opposing teams game planned against Franco first and foremost. The passing game opened up to a large degree because of the focus opponents placed on Franco. Franco is defintely worthy of a spot on the mythical Mount Rushmore of Steeler greats.

Why is it limited to 4? Obama will surely add his face to the Mount.

Lambert, Greene, Harris, Bradshaw. With statues of Ham, Russel, Swann, Stallworth, Kolb, Webster, Dawson, Polamalu, Shell, Blount, Woodson, Ward, Roethlisberger, etc. at the foot of the mountain.

My four, in this order;

Bradshaw, Fuqua, Harris, Cope

and there would be one of those ENORMOUS flags flying over it... of a terrible towel.

And I know you said no coaches, but a version of Noll, Cowher, Tomlin and a blank for the next guy would be cool.
